16 oz weights are damn near standard over here due to the current. Absolutely needed from the bank. But yea braid will tear up your finger for sure if you are using a spinning setup. I specifically only use baitcaster setups when big game fishing.

I use Uni knots for everything. Leaders as well as straight ties. I seriously can't remember the last time a fish broke me off at the knot.

Sturgeon setup for me is 100lb braid to the weight hook is also tied on with 100lb braid. Not messing around when I catch a Sturgeon.

All season are bass season over here. They just don't care to bite very often during the winter and this year had been cold with a ton of rain. Match that with me being super busy. An hour here or there doesn't cut it during those cold months.
