    American Wildfires

I was thinking about this yesterday. We need to prosecute more and punish heavily for these violations. It's one thing if you get in a car wreck igniting the forest or have an electrical structure fire that spreads. It's another if you're shooting tannerite or driving an ATV off trail. Until...

Saponin/soap nuts and similar wetting agents?

I thought only anti-bacterial soap kills micros (and only select ones), and the surfactant nature of soap surrounds and washes away dirt/germs. If I wanted to use a surfactant in my medium, I would use yucca anyway.

    AK Bean Brains

Hawaiian Cat Piss (left). Done. Harvest smells sweet like pinapple, but slightly sour. A bit of red berry in the mix. Some funk behind it I have yet to find a good word for. I get distracted by the extreme nostalgia reminding me of 1992. I counted the seeds to train my unevolved brain. Hard...

    Ms. POTUS?

Speaking of karma, Hunter Biden asked to have his case overturned based on Judge Cannon's ruling. I can't even begin to express how delighted it makes me to see equal justice proffered. I hope both cases are handled lawfully with due weight to precedence.

    The word "again"

Some people don't like Gen Z. I think they're awesome. Broadly speaking, their distaste of meaningless economic engagement and their intrinsic understanding of social change and internet information are going to fuel a more passive but powerful form of civic protest. Republicans are crying...

    Police Interactions.

"This does not reflect on all police officers." Until good police officers call out the bad ones and stop protecting them, YES, IT DOES REFLECT ON AAAALLLLLLL COPS!!!" All. Still waiting.

    drying but not curing

"Needed?" No. I smoke as soon as drying is done, and I dry all the way to 60%RH. But I'd be lying if I didn't say my product improves in flavor with age in a sealed jar kept cool and dark. The high doesn't seem to change, though.

    Selecting Soil for Starting Seeds

1:1, buffered peat:buffered perlite. Transplant to same with a bit of added compost when cotyledons start to yellow.

    Reuse old soil plan?

I give the soil some juice, but at 15G containers, if the plants get big I top dress. One pheno I have requires zero extra nitrogen, so leaving some variability on the latter end of the soil's performance is handy. Rapitest is the only one I have used (I spelled it wrong above). I tested my...

    Reuse old soil plan?

I've recycled my soil for years so far. It's home-built. I have never sterilized or done anything unusual, just dumped, broke up the root ball, added amendments, and refilled. I recommend getting a RapidTest kit. It will show you the soil's balance and has recommendations for amendment...

    Keeping Cool?

This is the first summer I gave it a go. Drying will be challenging. Right now I'm testing my 2x2 with four jugs of frozen water. With 100dF outside and 82dF in the shop - hopefully four jugs every 12 hours will work. Sitting at 69dF and 60%RH right now. Hehe.

    Keeping Cool?

I grow in an insulated, unconditioned (in the summer) shop. I vent into the attic, which helps control humidity, but also heat - not only from my lights, but the positive pressure in the attic aids its passive ventilation. If I had an A/C, I would still vent to the attic. If you're having heat...

    AK Bean Brains

Hawaiian Cat Piss foxtailing through my abuse. I'm gonna give it a few more weeks. I'll transfer the three best clones to the flower tent in a couple weeks. Trained to eight tops each. Light feeders. Kinda lost track of which branch I pollenated. Guess I should mark them when I do that.

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Chop today for this fella, I think. Sometimes I lie to you guys and change my mind at the last minute, but I've run this pheno before. It just gets brown from here. Begging for less light than 50% and drinking very little. Her little flip buddy needs more time. With a trip coming up, this one...

    The Debate: Thursday, June 27

They don't. They represent the voters. If the voters didn't worship influencers while watching reality TV through a TikTok addiction, buried deep in credit card debt, our elections would be quite different.

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Thanks! Kinda slipped off for a sec there. Been coasting through a low pH issue. Slacked on getting fresh Dolomite into my ROLS. Tried a tiny pinch of sodium carbonate and that perked them up, but I don't want to chance that building up so I quit. Shouldn't be much longer. One plant looks...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

With good roots it shouldn't be longer than a week before they perk up and start to grow. Some of us use super soils which might shock them for a bit longer. Still, not long. Got a photo?

Stop cutting your clone stems at a 45! There's a better way to get a white beard growing.

I thought I was just broken. In my dry climate, I was getting maybe 30% success, with rooting powder/gel, changing the water every two days, losing leaves like crazy. It took a month or more, and the clones took forever to get going in soil. I bought a bucket aerocloner. Now I just put cold tap...
