    2024?

Regardless of emotion or preference, I note the general leadership outcomes of Pelosi and her protégé.

    AK Bean Brains

First time running any genes from AKBB. Trying Hawaiian Cat Piss. I plan to keep plants small, blending pollen from any/all males to pollenate a cola from each female. These will get uppotted to 2L pots in another couple weeks, then segregated by gender. Males will go into 5G pots for...

    2024?

Generally speaking, politicians are motivated by getting money and keeping power. With this in mind, it is my strategy to suss out good character by listening to and watching the actual candidates - not selected clips from wherever, which are parsed before being presented by a pundit who tells...

Hey , Dummy Grow a Plant - Simple Soil Container Growing

I got so sick of the candy/cookie, questionable-parentage (when "defined") nonsense. I look for heirloom indications ("I worked this line for ten years.") and keep an eye out for known strains (which are hard to find, and who knows if they're genuine). Ultimately, I have ended up starting to...

One of two contenders for future pollination (other female in tent, both cloned - male chosen). Using this SE HPS again makes me want to invest in a DE, fan-hooded, 600W fixture. And another tent. Hehe.

Do you have a secret ingredient?

I'm considering running an online journal using stick-soil, just in case there are some interested folks out there. My aim is to test aeration. I want to buy as little as possible from the store. The pile of sticks has been rotting for a few years, so I'm not worried about the nitrogen dynamic...

Do you have a secret ingredient?

I have read that decomposing wood can deplete nitrogen, but I think bacteria will grow wherever they have the right conditions. I can only hope decomposing wood depletes N. I have too much!

Do you have a secret ingredient?

I put sticks in my soil. Sticks in various stages of rot. Ash, apple, walnut, elm. Just sticks. Sometimes it turns out a stick is a pumpkin stem or a pine cone. A couple of times it was a bone. It's not really on purpose. I don't know if it does good, but it doesn't seem to hurt. I've...

Dropped those couple X-mas/Chocolate plants in a SIP and flipped them a while back. They were just hitting sexual maturity. First time growing these genes under HID. Not sure how much that will affect phenotype expression.

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

I landed on using more of a wicking bed, so never worried much about support. I moved away from totes, like you, and mostly use regular plastic 15G planters on oversized saucers. Not a huge reservoir, but it provides probably 13G of soil still.

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

It probably depends. I use a soil that is very strong. I watered in some top dressing (likely unnecessary in retrospect) and it was too much, running off into my reservoir. Within days, I was experiencing brutal lockout and had to drain and replace the reservoir with clean tap water. But, like...

    Examples of GOP Leadership

Perhaps you are like me. Most artists (Tom Morello, e.g., excepted) know jack all about politics. I take their opinions accordingly. But lots of people heed their opinions, which pundits realize and then elevate those opinions - giving the artists yet more credence. So it's a feedback loop of...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

The best bet is probably to run dehumidifiers while recycling the air somewhat (put exhaust near intake) and keep temperature in the tent as high as practicable. And definitely run plenty of fans inside the tent to keep the air moving!

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

This is good advice. Another tactic, not ideal, is turning the light down. Also, defoliation. A combination of venting outside, higher temps, less light, and/or defoliation may be in order. Though it doesn't help with this grow, smaller plants make it easier to keep the RH down. edit: I missed...

Is there a way to 100% kill pests in large no-till living soil pots?

Living soil is a challenge. For bugs, it's about fighting off the bad guys and encouraging the good - but the good will die without the bad. That pesky IPM. It would be hard for any of us to advise on particulars without knowing more. Lots more. Like, too much more, maybe. My living soil...

List three things you learned from last grow.

    1. Even outdoor plants will self-prune to some degree. 2. It's worth it to properly dry and cure a plant, even if it's just a seed run. 3. There really is no reason for me to do this: I literally have thousands of seeds.

    Examples of GOP Leadership

My main, non-partisan gripe with Christie has always been his self-importance and blind ambition. Has he turned a corner on that? He explained his support for Trump as an ambitious mistake and invoked his wife and family in an apology. Perhaps we are watching the incarnation of an actual future...

    Anaerobic bacteria effect on soil

I suspect a buildup of calcium locking out multiple nutrients (potassium, phosphorous, zinc, manganese). Between the Dr. Earth calcium content and possibly the tap water solutes building up in the recycled soil, this is a real possibility. I recommend checking out this thread and seeing what you...
