Why not just go DWC? No media (well almost no) to get rid of and buy. Super easy to cleanup and start again. Two buckets are easy to maintain without a res. More than that might be a bit of a chore.

What's all that crap on top? What substrate is the seedling in? Does the substrate get enough moisture from the bubbles or is it too wet maybe?

It's much, much bigger than that.

I think it will end up in growing mold and bugs for fun.
