Aussie mate :bigjoint: Did you see the first page of this thread? Time-line seedling growth. You can see what my plants do in the first two weeks. I don't think they are that slow. On this page you'll see the El Dorado OG I sprouted and grew out for two weeks before they went straight into...

Thanks mate. I don't have much trouble germinating seeds, even with the modern strains. I just germinated 7 out of 7 Caramba seeds and one of them was so vigorous it actually vbusrt out of the seed casing whilst it was soaking and I found the little embryo floating on the surface when I checked...

Unfortunately you're going to get that with a lot of indicas due to their structure. If you want to grow outdoors you either need a hardier (mould-resistant ) variety or you need to find one that finishes flowering early, before the wet weather and humidity sets in. That includes auto-flowers...

Got an update on the El Dorado OG. Photos sent to me by the grower. They are coming into their eighth week of flower now, so have two weeks to go.

Jesus christ... has anyone reliably solved the issues of weak growth in early veg under LED? What's the answer????

Nearly all brands of calmag have a Ca:Mg ratio of 3:1 There is a reason for that I won't go into here. My base veg nutrient has the following concentations: 2.2% N, 0.57% P, 2.7% K The calmag I use has the following concentrations: 3% N, 3% Ca, 1% Mg (Coincidentally, if you add two parts of...

Percentages don't mean much – it's the ratios that count. You can add as little or as much Calmag as you like, but most of the good ones are made of calcium nitrate and magnesium nitrate that have similar N Ca Mg ratios. Calcium nitrate has a ratio of rougly 3 parts Ca to 2 parts N, and...

    LM301H vs LM301H-EVO

Your point is valid. Up to a point. But I've already pointed that out :bigjoint: I'm a little confused when you say "the windows turned pink and wobbly" – an observation that appears fully cognisant – yet try to quantify this by saying you weren't sure "anything happened". I mean, you just...

    LM301H vs LM301H-EVO

Anyway, I'm guessing we have all smoked a lot of pot in our lives and are all in a good position to judge how high we've been. This is not the same as asking someone who has never smoked pot to rate their high. We are also getting a bit off track (or maybe not), so maybe we should be having...

    LM301H vs LM301H-EVO

Oh, I have a minor issue with THC level comparison between then and now, and that's because a lot of the testing done 40-50 years ago used seeded samples with a lot of stalk and leaf and dubious curing methods . . . Have a look at what @sfw1960 posted – that's wat they were testing. I also...

Jesus christ... has anyone reliably solved the issues of weak growth in early veg under LED? What's the answer????

As I said, we're guessing what your plants look like so it's hard to know 100% what the problem is. I'm glad the higher EC is paying off for you. Cal-Mag might be your friend – as much for the nitrogen as the Ca and Mg. It will raise your EC a bit, too.

    LM301H vs LM301H-EVO

This is what Nichia actually said: See the bit about "combination of LEDs and phosphor? It means exactly what it means. Also, don't get hung up on the 5000K spectral comparison – it is not arbitray. It is there to highlight the Pr anf Pfr peaks between diodes of similar CCT – the notes even...

It's only bee a couple of days but the plants are really starting to flower now (except the Atomical Haze – it will take a lot longer). Here is the tent at 2.5 weeks of flower This Citral-Widow test seed appears to lean more to the Citral side. Very indica, wants to maintain a single cola...

    LM301H vs LM301H-EVO

I also hate to keep reminding you that Nichia did not specficially state they used that diode in their horticultural experiments. What they did say was they did a series of tests at their facility in Shanghai and the resultant Hortisolus spectrum performed best under the conditions they set. If...

    LM301H vs LM301H-EVO

Everyone has an opinion, and everyone has their own experience, but I can say that I have seen differences in the same plants grown under different lights. We know sunlight is dynamic, but there are always spectral and DLI patterns specific to geography. For example, Australia is always going to...

    LM301H vs LM301H-EVO

Thanks. I used the Seoul Semi to add violet/near-UV and the Optisolis for the deep red and far red shift. The lights had about 5% far red, which is still higher than most lights today. I wasn't as interested in efficiency as getting the spectrum close to what I wanted, which was a "true"...

    LM301H vs LM301H-EVO

Been there, done that. My very first LED panel design mixed Seoul Semi "Sunlike" with Nichia Optisolis CRI98 and Nichia 757 CRI90 series back in 2018. What they lacked in efficiency they made up for in results. A lot of these panels are still going strong after 5 years.

    LM301H vs LM301H-EVO

Hortisolis is a new line and uses a different phosphor. I think the CRI is only 60 on those, because there is a lot of blue and green but not much amber and the red is mostly in the deep spectrum where it is not as bright and so does not have as large an impact on colour rendition. Cyan is the...

I'm not sure how you can tell from those photos, but the Hortisolis flowers look much more colourful to me. But who knows? As for micronutient concentration, that would be valid for edible crops but perhaps less so for flowers?
