I am using CandyLabs Video Velocity for the capture, then Camtasia Studio 8 for the render. 10 minutes per snapshot, 4 secs of tape a day, so 30 secs a week, 2 mins per month still seems boring and drawn out, may go to 15 minutes soon But videos of your kids are never boring.

Cracking a high pressure cylinder of any gas, even an 800 psi CO2 cylinder, is not safe. You definitely need a regulator to start down this road safely. Plus what was said above.

if the candle goes out from oxygen depletion, i will be surprised, even tho the CO2 levels are toxic to humans way before that happens. I am also concerned about the soot factor, looking for a plain old candle. I think the cylinder/regulator and controller is the way to go, i agree with you...

Here is my first idea... I made a stand for the candle to (help) prevent tipping. Would prefer a wider candle, like 3", but didnt find one yet.
