Meijiu LED Quantum Board is pulling less than half the proper watts!? WTF?

sadly the race to the bottom on price of lights means cutting corners, chinese POTS are piss poor and a common failure cheers

    Alibaba leds, are they good?

the kit says Epistar on the mono's, thats light speak for mid power, not high power reds used on higher priced boards, thats why they are cheap Cheers Mark

Meijiu LED Quantum Board is pulling less than half the proper watts!? WTF?

if it lights, then likely the driver still functions, most likely the dimmers, take them out of circuit and see if it full powers, if not, then possibly the driver does have some issue, although two failing together, seems hard to see it Cheers

THC, CBD, Terpene test results – UVA vs UVB vs none

If you want to have a conversation about penetration you need to hear from the side lighters, is this by definition penetration?. I hear everything from 0 to 40% improvement in outcomes with side lights but dependent on grow methods

    Received my Mars-Hydro ts1000 damaged

super valid point, this highlights the differences of a nuanced approach to spectrum, lost on newbies and to some extent irrelevant if you dont have the experience, you will get that in time, but it seems to me that mixing CCT and promoting it as different/better is smoke and mirrors and likely...

    Received my Mars-Hydro ts1000 damaged

Rocket makes very good points, mixing bins/spectrum to try and get overall higher PPFD/eff is a promise thats rarely met, what you get on the swings you lose on the merry go round. The matter of 'whiter' light is a whole other subject, google the black body locus and binning below and above the...

bro not sure what any of that means, 3500k diodes can be same diode count, cost to make is no different, longer life??? say what, cheers

    Received my Mars-Hydro ts1000 damaged

I am yet to understand this. if you run 3000k and 4000k all your getting is 3500k, why not just run 3500k, phosphor converted light blends, if you want a specific CCT/Spectrum just buy that, I dont get why people think the sum of blending is greater than the whole of spectrum cheers

Bridgelux Vesta super tuneable strip build

Recently brought a Creality CR6 with touch screen and auto bed levelling for AUD399 shipped, its a cracking little printer, barely hear it, its so quiet just did a custom 4ft design, going to be putting these into the base of moulded trays for racking systems, Cree JB2835, 2700K, Lumileds 660...

Samsung H series strips, Arrow seems to be blowing them out! what a deal!

I seem to recall the number was just PPF not PPF/W but it was a while ago and was likely at the 45ma base spec, not the 150ma max. My last GONI test from Teknik had a PC RED mixed with white at 2.1umol/j but it was at 44 watts so quite high. I think the PC red is in no way comparable to...

    Lexan QB Heatsink or none

Our 272 is robust but sticking it to plastic is probably not where I would go. For simplicity and fan removal, 3 mm flat plate will work a treat. The only fan you want is the main one you likely use in your area to just push air about. Most panel designs make assumptions about the rooms having...

Replacing ballasts every 2-3 months ... why???

I put some strips into my production area with old funky drivers, mounted to timber, driver failed within a day due to heat, mounted the next driver onto alu plate, then back onto timber, hasnt missed a beat since, still runs hot but dissipates through the alu plate. Maybe check the...

    Best led for veg specifically???

For Veg, I dont see any issue with using 4000k, this is used by many on this forum and is well balance red to blue to avoid stretch which can occur if you move into 5000k and up. If you want stretch via control then 730nm give the shade avoidance effect so can be used to induce stretch and you...

    Best led for veg specifically???

So my take on this could get wordy. Two points Phosphor coated leds do blend as a colour. If I build a board in equal parts 3000k and 4000k I get CCT of 3500k Monochromatic no so much, If I have 730 and 660nm on a board, spectrally I will have two SPD peaks of 730 and 660. Red and blue will...
