Direct answer to direct question (without pissing around) You can dim up & down all you like with LED & not hurt them at all.

In the past I did not have the option of adjusting intensity, but now do with current lights. What I have done is reduce lights on hours slowly toward the end. 15 min a day. Down to 8 hours with 2 days in the dark before chop.

For a 170 watt light, that be expensive. No sign of a link to an Independent testing lab report. Nice tents.
