    COB LED DIY Build Journal

That's great you have a dedicated garage to grow in. But I can understand how insulating it properly can be a pain in the ass. And really the best solution is to insulate the hell out of it. But there are some specific tricks you can use in a climate like ours. Keep in mind it's actually better...

Thanks. I've found a lot of inspiration from a lot of people on RIU doing really cool shit. The nice thing about a forum like this is that everybody builds off of each other's ideas.

That would be cool. Machinists rock... my uncle is a really good one. But, no I'm an architect. So I really like designing and building stuff.

What did you use for insulation? Did you go with rigid foam or did you use some type of batt insulation? It's good you created such and efficient building envelope. Even though my closet is indoors, I lined the inside of the walls with 2" of rigid insulation. I find it helps keep a more...

    BTU Calculator for COB LED's

Does anyone know how I might go about calculating theoretical BTU's of my DIY grow light? Is their a calculator somewhere? My light has 4 x CXB3590 (3500k, 80cri) driven at 1750mA that are actively cooled on Arctic Alpine heatsinks and 2 x Vero 29 (3000k, 90cri) driven at 1400mA on passive...

Yes, I’m looking forward to seeing what difference my changes make. Plus, I really enjoy growing in the winter.

The heat sink fans pushed air out the sides of the case really well on the last grow and temps stayed pretty low in the case. So, I'm hoping the fans take care of the additional heat. There is a 1 inch gap between the heatsink pins and the case (hard to see in the photos), so there should be...

Replacing 600w HPS, help me DIY please :)

The thing I like about COBs over QBs is a COB dies then it's pretty easy to change it out yourself. I'm not sure how easy it would be to replace one of those LEDs on the board if it died.

Nope, very hard buds, no air pockets. The stuff on the bottom can be a bit loose, but that's normal with any light. But the primary buds are very dense.

I have a similar sized space as yours. This might give you a few ideas. https://www.rollitup.org/t/cob-led-diy-build-journal.909969/ https://www.rollitup.org/Journal/pdx-joe.914674/

The four Cree are on Arctic CPU fan cooled heat sinks. These four fans keep the air churning inside the light enclosure, so I think they will help a bit with cooling the passive heatsinks. The Cree are 3500k. I use the light for veg and flower. I added the 3000k for a bit more kick in flower and...

I upgraded my light this weekend. I added two Vero 29 SE 3000k run at 1400 mA. The light now pulls 440 watts at the wall with the potentiometers at 100%. I'm getting everything ready for my winter grow. This will get me to 50 watts per square foot max... well over my goal of 40 watts per square...

Yeah, I had similar issues with trying to reach in and maintain my 3x3 SCROG. I can see if I went with four plants then I wouldn't be able to maintain them very well. I was thinking about coming up with a staking system or maybe a tomato cage system that latches on to the outside edge of the...

Hmm, weird. I used a couple airstones in my large remote reservoir. Although there weren't any airstones at the bottom of the pot. Not sure if it means much but figured I'd share the observation.

Here is a look at the root balls from the modified Autopot SIP about a week after the chop. It's interesting to see the roots really didn't grow down into the reservoir past the air gap or really through the wick. But, the root mass in the soil is pretty robust throughout the entire pot. Before...
