    ...All Things Vero...

Well I could use the 38v chip driven at 1400 mA or I could use the 52v chip driven at 1050 mA. But, is it better to drive the Vero 29s harder or softer? I've heard from others on here that Veros shine when driven harder.

Figs like their roots restricted a bit, so they do okay in pots.

Do you have a voltage and amperage you like? I know the Veros come in three different volts.

I need a little bit of help. I built a light with 4 x CXB3590, 3500k running at 1750 mA. My grow closet is 3 x 3. So, the light is drawing about 260 - 280 W at the wall. I'm thinking about adding a couple more COBs to get my power up to around 40Watts per sq. Foot. I'm thinking about using Vero...

Just topped the plants. They will get transplanted into the 6.6 gallons SIPs this weekend.

I suggest top watering them for the first watering in order to start the capillary action, and then rely exclusively on the wicking action after that. I've never used 100% perlite, so I don't know at what rate water will evaporate from the top of the cups and if the top of the cups will dry out...

Three years of uninhibited root growth could maybe clog up the reservoir, overflow holes and fill tube cutting down on water capacity and limiting air intake from the bottom. But, with an annual plant I suppose it really wouldn't be much of an issue. I'm going to omit the weed cloth for my...

Check this out. I just root pruned my fig tree... getting it ready for spring. I lined the entire whiskey barrel with weed cloth and a double layer of weed cloth on the bottom, but check out how aggressive the fig roots are. This tree has been in this pot for three years and the roots grew right...

No, I haven't transplanted my new seedlings into the SIPs yet. I bought some of the large 6.6 gallon Autopots and did the modification on those. I'll probably mix up my soil next weekend and let the SIPs soil rest for about a week before transplant. In a perfect situation I would have like to...

Those ChilLED are slick. Vitaly's stuff is so well designed. Those cooling cowlings are awesome. Actually I have been having a hard time keeping my temps up in the winter. When I was initially setting up my closet I was trying to get my temps around 77F, but it seems like the plants may actually...

My outdoor SIPs are no till. I don't do shit to them over the winter. I leave the root balls in them all winter and don't even bother covering them. In the spring I amend with some lime and a little bit of worm castings. I might scrape out a little bit of the old roots before planting. Then it's...

Thanks, I really fussed way too much over it, but I like how it turned out. Actually I bought the case from an online electrical supply store. It's a steel electrical box but without any cutouts. I used some metal hole bits and hole saws to make the cutouts. My only complaint is that it is a bit...

Yes, I was getting good vegetative growth. The plants were bushy and compact. I do like the look of those Growmau bud burst kits... all the parts and a good price.

I popped a few seeds a few weeks back... UK Cheese. I'm switched to peat and organic fertilizer. They're looking a bit healthier than my first grow. Anyway, I'm looking for some suggestions for an upgrade to my light. My current light has 4 CXB 3590, 3500k running at 1750 mA. So, I'm pulling...

Actually, I saw the Grokashi guy sets his Earthboxes up a week or two early and lets them sit before he plants in them. Okay, I'm going to try the early setup and see how it goes.

You're right, I have grown exclusively outdoors using SIPs for about a decade for my veggies and haven't used airstones and they have worked great. But, I recently set up an indoor grow room and had some airstones... so I figured I'd go ahead and use them. Mainly I want the airstones to bubble...
