Next time use a larger pot, did you remove all those leaves or did they just fall off? if you removed them, then next time keep them on.

Wet conditions, last year I had one plant get both mold and bud rot, but we had heavy fog and dew+ rain the last couple weeks and I tried to get them to the finish line.

Bud rot and mold are two different things...mold will be grey and fuzzy.
