    CXB3590 1500W

@m4s73r thanks for the sub! Just ordered some more COBs that are supposed to be in tomorrow, looking forward to see your new setup :leaf: The CXB3590s still at work. Ive been getting about 1.1 to 1.2 gpw but still trying to optimize the soil mix to see if I can improve efficiency and yields.

What is a good basic mulch for my living soil.

I use dried up canna leaves from the previous runs, mostly the brown/yellow. The grren ones I either eat or mush them up and put them in the watering can. I did read that some "garden of eden" folks mixed mulch into their soil rather than keeping it on the surface and the mulch stole all the...

Underwatering fabric pots and its effect on microbes

I have seen a nice boost in trichome quality from using 7 gallon fabric pots instead of 5 gallon buckets. But I did bump into underwatering problems also. I have been trying a few things, spraying the surface with a pump sprayer first with a bit of wetting agent in the water AND watering more...

    Please Critique my soil recipe!

That is true, they dont break down in compost bins. One of the Amazon ads claim that they are latex based and will break down in the field, but I treat them as if they were plastic contamination and strip them off the stem after harvest. Same thing regarding cloning gel, its not the organic way...

    Please Critique my soil recipe!

-Root riot plugs + cloning gel is hard to beat -Cut just below a node -Spray the leaves once initially -18/6 or 20/4 light cycle rather than 24 hours -72-78F for best results -Dont blast them with bright light, especially first few days -Bigger clones tend to take a little longer -Flowering...

    Recycling Organic Soil

Lots of great advice thank you growers! I did get a bag of gypsum and have been adding a bit to each watering. I see a lot of calcium issues and have been gradually able to crank up the lights. The ladies are getting big, about 3 weeks

    Concrete slabs and humidity

Large dehumidifiers are much more efficient than small ones, so they will get the job done without adding nearly as much heat.

    Concrete slabs and humidity

Yeap, new construction will often install a vapor barrier under the slab so basements can be finished more safely. If the soil under your slab is not soaked, then you probably arent getting a ton of humidity from the slab or the walls though. BUT if you are cranking the dehumidifier that adds a...

    bodhi seeds

Just popped a pack of Garfunkel/Trashplant (Dumpster X 88G13/HP). All 12 were looking good but I managed to kill one already by "helping" it. Hoping for some funky flavors. Next will be Dazzleberry (Goji Razz X Strawberry Milk) or USEFUL seeds Chem D X Bag of Oranges

HERMI ALERT ??????WHAT DO I DO?

Once the male parts turn yellow they release a bunch of pollen, tiny dust that can float around. The dust lands on the pistils hairs and pollinates the buds, then you get tons of seeds. Some plants are pure females and will never hermy, some are minor herms you can pull them off and some are...

HERMI ALERT ??????WHAT DO I DO?

Pinch them and pull them off (I just eat them, simplifies disposal). If they are already yellow and releasing dust you might want to spray them down with water and pinch them very carefull with circulation fan off to minimize pollination. They are easier to see if you kick the lights off and...

    Mini oscillating fans, ideas?

12V fans are surprisingly efficient. If you use adjustable power supply you can dim it until its nice and quiet and avoid any resonances.

    Catch me up

Whats up Rahz welcome back! Im still a COB nerd just ordered a few more 3590s 3500K DB for about $25 shipped. I will be running them somewhere between 215-245 lumens/W (3.07-3.5 umol/s/W) @10-23W ea, depending on the reality of margin of error. As far as I can tell low powered COBs can get just...

How to handle the white powdery mildew ?

H202, 1% milk, apple cider vinegar, neem oil, compost tea, baking soda, ultra low humidity etc will treat it/manage it but will not cure it. I tried different things for about a year before I gave up and shut the perpetual down, treated the most important clones with a systemic fungicide...

    Powdery mildew ????

Yeap peroxide to the rescue. It will help. You can spray it on with a pump sprayer and then use a fan to help it dry quicker. Still plenty of dankness worth saving and maybe make bubble hash.

    HELP!!! BUGS after compost tea

Yes springtails are very beneficial. Think of it as your personal army of living insect frass. I like to see pill bugs, springtails, roe beetles and soil mites as much as possible. The only problem with rove beetles is sometimes they get stuck on a sticky bud.

    Questions about recycling organic soil

Yeap no worries with roots they will disappear. I cut up the thick stems and put them right back in too. I would recommend to leach the soil every once in awhile because most of the sodium ions tend to leach first and it may restore some nutrient balance (consider that rain constantly leaches in...

    Alternative for crab meal

DE has to be sprinkled on top and dry to harm insects but you can mix Neem seed meal into your soil, top dress with it and foliar spray Neem Oil or Neem seed meal tea. It will whoop fungus gnats, severely impede thrips and in theory shouldnt harm the soil mites.
