I’ve successfully used year old pollen stored in screw-top pill bottles with dessicant packs in the freezer. I might try to see if 2 year old pollen will still work someday.

It all washed off, got somewhere between two and three of rain. But the pollen was easily on there long enough to knock up those bracts that were ready for it. Proof will be when white stigma attached to impregnated bracts turn dark. I’ll re-pollinate the next time couple times there’s a dry...

Hoppy looks happy, hope she munches any bad bugs for ya! Knocked up a couple bitches yesterday - Got a nice thunderstorm that dumped at least an inch of rain just now after decent showers much of the day, this girl was so hot to trot to get wet she reacted by going head down ass up, moaning...

Out of 4 Sholgar one male was big and the female I accidentally topped would have been somewhere between 7 and 8 feet too. Nothing like the 15 footers last year though lol If you’re going to top your mystery plant I’d do it ASAP so the remaining branches can take the additional light and...

The first of the two Sholgar males declared almost a month before the Rustam Kush male did. The female Rustam Kush are slow too - wish me luck getting them finished by Halloween!

And finally, if you fuck up and get pollen on adjacent branches where you don’t want seeds, take a small spray bottle and spray with water to zap the baby batter a few times - being careful not to wet the seed branch.

Also, I put different colored twistems on the pollinated branches to ID what’s what.

Seedmaking 101: a) when plenty of stigma are showing at flower sites, pollinate on calm dry day with no rain and little wind expected for at least 24 hours b) use artist’s brush to gently dab on lower branch on leeward side of wind - you don’t need much pollen to do the job c) repeat a couple...

Regular B.t. spraying if caterpillars are around. Also will spray with a very weak (1%) peroxide solution if rot becomes an issue.

I’m ready to declare that flowering is on, I guess. Seeing bud sites and stigma popping out left and right. This Rustam Kush with the fat leaves finally popped a few more stigma after showing a couple last month and then zip zero nada, this plant is hanging onto its big fans longer than the...

LOL that’s actually a glass table top. There’s still one male left that just showed he was a he a couple days ago so that one is kind of a straggler.

Waziri Repro 1 before he got chopped yesterday - Sorry bro, but I couldn’t have you dumping your jizz all over the girls - But your legacy will live on via selective pollination -

It’s no absolute, for sure - for example last year neither male Tirah was ever taller than several of the girls. And out of my Waziri repros, the lone male is in 3rd place out of 5 height-wise, and close to a foot shorter than the biggest girl. I will say in my admittedly small sample size...

It’s a boy! It was actually easier to see the balls with the flash than during the day. Happy to get at least one Rustam Kush male so I can make seeds. Oddly enough, it’s the smallest of the five by quite a margin. Seeing some good stretch in the two lankier females as well as the donkey-ears...

I’ve been a monkey my whole life, when I was 8 my grandfather would send me up his 55 foot ham radio tower to make repairs and adjustments to the antenna at the top. These days he’d probably be in jail for that lol.

Actually I wait until I see a few of the male flowers start to open up before cutting branches for pollen collection - it doesn’t bother me to get occasional rogue seeds on the girls. Here is a pic I took last night showing Sholgar 3 with a couple of random seeds that look to be a couple of...

Took half of this Sholgar guy down to collect his jizz for seed runs today, final height was exactly 7 feet.

Yeah me three (although this year’s genetics are what is keeping the plants reasonably sized rather than any conscious effort on my part). Because while it was certainly an interesting experience growing 15 foot monstahs last year, I can’t say that I miss teetering way up on a ladder to monitor...

Pollen collection system, I like using the yogurt tubs because it allows the branches to lie at an angle well over the mirror. Just have to make sure to keep plenty of water in the tubs so they don’t tip over and wreck your day.
