    First dwc

My plants started to get rust spots the last week of flowering- was like 20% humidity for the last month =\ Figured it was cause I was easing up on the feeding but humidity totally makes more sense. They were drinking like mad even though it was below freezing lol. Probably just to combat the...

    Scratch and paste cloning

For whatever reason i was just having... shit results. The crushing and powder probably does a lot, I was just very surprised by going from 0 results, to shit results, now to 100% lol so many factors to consider... but i think some type of gashing/crushing/scraping probably does wonders. I know...

    Scratch and paste cloning

Also, here's a pic of a bud I rooted lol. It's been going strong for more than 2 weeks now, has big-girl roots coming out of the 2.5" net pot now, waiting to get a few more inches, then into the mothers DWC.

    Scratch and paste cloning

Hmmm next clone I think I actually might try splitting the stem. This could give me a big hint as to whether or not physically cutting the vascular tissue matters. If you're splitting from bottom, you're destroying a bunch of connecting and support tissues and giving access to the vascular...

    Building 2 tub dwc

That is super odd that you can't clone since the move... how do the cuttings end up dead? Wet noodle, or wilted leaves? Has to be something pathogenic, or in your water I'd guess. Was it tap at both places?

At least with my case, prepping the cuttings themselves. Up until the last few clones I did, I felt like mother-prep was really important. But the last round was taken from plants that were just ready to take down, or already taken down and sat around for a bit lol. And the plants were already...

    Scratch and paste cloning

Thanks! I get nervous posting these things, but I'm definitely one to stray off the beaten path. Big believer in 'fail fast', and cloning especially seemed to be a topic surrounded in lots of myth and magic so I figured I had some good room to play around. 1) I'm just using my normal fine-point...

    Scratch and paste cloning

Holy shit i just noticed how long this is TL;DR- Scratch and cut up the bottom of the stem so it helps the paste/scab hold, pack the wounds with a mix of insoluble rooting hormone and Great White. Slowly spray paste off of stem if the plant starts going limp. Works good!

    Scratch and paste cloning

I've been playing around with a new method of cloning that (at least for me) has had a 100% success rate so far (1 exception, this cut of rosemary i tried to clone from a sick plant, this might also not work with woody plants). I've had a high fail rate with other methods i was trying, so I...

    Building 2 tub dwc

hah, very off topic at this point, but I just beat my record with the cloning. Got all excited lol Took down this whole plant yesterday, decided i wanted another clone of it. literally after about 36 hours i had roots: You can see what I'm talking about with the 'brown scab', just dry...

Man, yea I lost my first.... 15 clones, then i had a 4/5 success rate, now im at 10/10 on this last batch. Things i started doing differently, one or all of them seemed to help a bunch: a) Bubble-bucket hasn't changed much, jsut a 5gal bucket with air stones and RapidStart. Underside of lid...

    What makes Aeroponics more difficult?

Yep, absolutely. Bubble-ponics is probably just the only worthy pumpless option around, but it requires a small single shared rez, is rather prone to rotting, air stones fuck with your pH. It's not perfect lol. If it was, it'd be the preferred way. But my god is it half-decent. I just think...

    What makes Aeroponics more difficult?

I'm now on my.... 3rd bubble-ponics system, and one classic (kratky) water culture 'root incubator'. Bubble-bucket for cloning, kratky (motionless) for root prop, top-fed bubble ponics DWC for my main system, and classic DWC bubble-ponics for mothers. My main and 'mothers' system both have 8"...

    Hydroton alternatives dwc

I think I'm still wary of the generic 'rocks'- most of those are alumina heavy and that's just something i want to keep out of the system if possible. I may have to steal your idea lol

Software engineer grows (DWC) weed pt 2 w/ timelapse!

Another bud from that same plant as the first 2- was also really close to the light but it didn't get burnt as much, looks a bit more dense. I'm going to try and hold off on the rest, I need to leave town for 2 weeks so I figure I can take down everything last minute and dry the plants with the...

DIY Hydroponic Nutrients in 5 minutes

Yea normally the soil life gets to it first, probably why the plants suck at managing it- normally just doesn't happen.

DIY Hydroponic Nutrients in 5 minutes

it's a little high N for me in my books as far as both veg/bloom... I'm trying to stick to those damn spectrometry readings as much as possible as far as ratios, and just grounding the solution around 30-40ppm P and 15ppm NH4. Goal here is that the ppms are kept within safe bounds for direct...

DIY Hydroponic Nutrients in 5 minutes

With my 50ppm Ca tap (only 7ppm Mg tho! Gar. This is why I use ful-mag for an extra mag punch), id use 2ml/gal cal-mag. Still need an extra boost. I'm a masochist looking for a one-size-fits-all (and honestly, no rez change) solution. I ran high N up til the end on this grow, still have leaves...
