We use glass mason jars, but we have replaced the lids and rings with stainless steal and a chemical proof seals. You could just remove the seals from the original lids but this creates the possibility of leaks. Dangerous!

You are correct. It is advisable not to use the standard mason jar lids. We replace the entire lid and rings with specially made units on the OilXGreen system..
