How low do you think the new Vero 10s have to be driven before you can screw it to a piece of wood? Call me crazy, but I don't give a fuck. Though light strips are much better suited for wood mounting. Still waiting for the Samsung H series gen 3 to be available with a low minimum order quantity

    led vs hps

Something I noticed with a lot of grow diaries of those cheap ebay lights like ViparSpectra is that the diary starts out well up to first weeks of flower and then suddenly you never hear from them every again. And all the people mentioning how impressed they are with it and learning they've...

Don't you live in Germany? Get 4 osram 100w equivalent LED bulbs instead. It will save you money, because electricity is not cheap there and CFL is simply not efficient enough. Iirc energy is 30 cent / kwh there. One veg cycle and the Led already saved you money

I've got something that crushes all the other COBs and other lights

It actually seems about right, people are just overly optimistic about their junction temp. With a Tj of 85 celcius, the Cree calculator gives about the same lm/w as the sphere test. With a junction temp of 40 degrees celcius it's 1.10 times as efficient (as one at 85 degrees celcius). Also...

Any sort of LED bulb will do better than the ViperSpectra. Since it's only 15% efficient (as according to themselves), you only need 70W of generic store bought LED bulbs to equal (actually trump) the light output. A build like this is also an option. And since you're in Germany you have...

http://www.viparspectra.com/goods.php?id=61 "Radiant:208767.0 mW" "Power : P=137.60W" So 20.9W of light for 137.6W of power. 15% efficient. A normal Philips 2700K 100 lm/w bulb is around 30% efficient. So literally twice as efficient as that panel. And the more efficient 117-122 lm/w...

Yea, my main problem with spectrum claims. If anything it just proves that spectrum isn't that important, it's all about the intensity and for your power bill it's the efficiency.

Can i grow 1 basil plant indefinitely under cfl ?

People who replace their CFLs for led bulbs in microgrows never look back.

Can i grow 1 basil plant indefinitely under cfl ?

Better to use a generic led bulb, if you plan on growing it indefinitely the led will be quickly cheaper

Vero29 are the flagship cobs from Bridgelux and very efficient. With 25 sq ft and efficient leds you can get away with 25w per square foot, so even just 600w is fine. 1000w is nicer though.

Generic 100w (or 60) equivalent led bulbs with the diffuser removed. Philips tends to have the most efficient ones. If you live in the EU you can also easily get the 20w Osram Parathoms that put out 2452 lumen (122lm/w)

Blackdog isn't good anyway, they're just really expensive. You can also go an other cheap route by using LED bulbs. (Pictures aren't mine, but you get the idea) Most people who use LED bulbs don't use that many on such a small area, this one is just a bit more extreme.

Amare uses 3500K cobs with 5000K Cree XP-G3 leds and a little extra blue and red. It's efficient and you're getting high end LEDs so it's good. Not sure if it's so much better as they claim, but they offer a great product that isn't too expensive.

So it's just a DD bin. My idea with the XP-G3s was far more fun, and efficient and costly.

    A big ass PCB with S6 binned Cree XP-G3s Like 304 XP-G3s each driven at 0.355W for a decent 230 lm/w.
