    Dave's Area 51/Inda-gro combination grow

The surface temp on the lamp is 200 degrees f. The driver only emits 115 degree f. Thermal contribution is 1500 btu/hr which is what a 400 watt LED panel would produce as well. For a room that size I'd be shooting for 3 air turnovers a minute. Heat from the 420 should not be an issue with...

Crazy guy publishes research saying LED is as efficient as HID for growing.

Thanks for the link however he's not concluding that LED for grow lighting is more efficient than HPS. That statement would over reaching and easily dismissed as one could argue that to get higher quality finish buds with equal or near the weights of HPS it does take LED panel manufacturers...

Last week a friend of mine who runs the 420-pontoon combos in soil shared 2 ea., of a Harlequin, AC/DC and William's Wonder clones he uses to manage the excruciating pain he suffers as result of a sciatic nerve issues and the 3 different surgeries he's underwent to try and fix the problems...

Speaking of beer check out the hops coming up in the IG greenhouse. The greenhouse setup has completely gone aquaponics with one 300 gal tank primary tank for the vegetarian Koi and Tilapia serving a gravity fed 200 gallon buffer tank that houses the carnivore Bass and Bluegill. The target DLI...

Apache AT600 led vs 1000w HPS Blue Dream Grow

Phillips and Eye did exhibit but unless you asked about their horticulture lamps they were not promoting them. http://www.lightfair.com/lightfair/V40/exhibitor_list/displayEx.cvn?exbid=24917&printfr=true&popup=1...

Apache AT600 led vs 1000w HPS Blue Dream Grow

Hey G. What I saw at LightFair was nothing more than hundreds (literally) of 'me too' LED companies all doing some small variation on a theme or espousing (incessantly) their virtues based on how they were less expensive than the competitors. The days of HID are numbered. Sure building a...

Apache AT600 led vs 1000w HPS Blue Dream Grow

Hiya GG! Just got back from Light Fair in Las Vegas. Thought ya'll might get a kick out of this. I shit you not that 95% of all the exhibitors were showing LED lights. I could not find a single flouro, CMH, or HID lamp on the floor for area lighting applications. As I considered this it...

Apache AT600 led vs 1000w HPS Blue Dream Grow

Okay I give up. That statement has me flummoxed. What does that mean? If you could give me ten minutes and my head will be in the right place. :bigjoint: To some extent that would be true but with GG matching the HPS with the lower wattage version I would imagine the higher wattage...

Apache AT600 led vs 1000w HPS Blue Dream Grow

I see that CMH can be run on digital ballasts now. So yes efficiencies would go up but as to depreciation check the white sheet and it's rated 90% @ 8K hours which is 40% of it's 20K rated lamp life. Don't get me wrong these are impressive numbers. But I would want to see full veg thru flower...

Apache AT600 led vs 1000w HPS Blue Dream Grow

I don't think I would declare CMH as unbeatable. The Phillips cut sheet shows 1.9 only at the first 100 hours. Even by referencing the Phillips white sheet your going to have a depreciation of 10% @ 8K hours which puts it at 1.7 uMole/sec/watt. And none of these values account for the ballast...

IF you are new to LED and want help choosing what to buy, POST HERE!

I see an RGB controller to dim your lights and change spectrums because certain wavelengths are 'unnecessary' and can be eliminated by the smart controller. Ambitious but misguided. I don't want to dim my lights and I don't want to deny it the spectums I 'think' they don't need. Most growers...

Icemud's Mineralized soil tent grow with Intelligent Gro LED's.

All in all pretty ambitious but here is my issue with this type of RGB controller. You as a gardener are deciding what spectrums are most important to the plant during a particular period of plant development. Most guys simply want the intensities not the dimming aspects anyway so why spend...

Hiya Mud! That question is way too open ended good sir. Guru's will pick apart written technical specifications because it's out there for all to see. When you're a test grower for a company and you hype the product with statements like 'they use blended emitters' there are folks here like P...

Ask and you shall receive! I put a request in to have them send you a couple of the free sample bags. It's a 1/4 pound in each bag and it'll treat 100 gallons. Here's a link to the powder in it's raw form but what they are also doing is putting the same 1/4 lb of powder in 4" x 5" tea bags...
