If you ever worked with coco you'd know how soggy it is. Retains almost as much water as soil. You dont want coco sitting in watter. It will stay too wet.

how are you going to cool and light proof it though? might be more realistic to build a 2+sqft stealth cab in one side of the closet with a few 23w cfl and then a 100w or 150w hps with a quiet bath fan as exhaust. much easier to cool and much more stealthy.

it can be helpful if your temps are too high, but how are you goung to seal and cool a tent? mini split ac? window shaker ac? if your temps are under control i would skip it. if you do run co2, you want a timer and exhaust fan that clears the tent at lights off.

So it was bud rot? I dont think its a root issue if its only occuring directly beneath the light. more likely a temp/vpd issue. Do you have an IR temp gun? It might be worth checking the differences in temp between plants and making your screen a V or bowl shape to more equalize light distances.
