    What LED should I get

This is my opinion, so take it for what it's worth. But I'll betcha everybody who's moved on from boxes to open frames like Timber and etc. will agree. I don't care who the box comes from, what's inside the box, or how much electricity it gulps down at the plug. The useful area of coverage -...

How is the Duolux 600 a "good choice"? How does it stand out from all the other blurple panels? Beware of an advertiser's suggestions. Unless lots of members are using said suggestions and confirming results.

    Led drivers and COB's 24/7 or 18/6

My guiding principle is: what's closest to the conditions under which these plants have evolved for millions of years? Some guys like to think that incredible results are waiting behind some magic door. Longer light periods, heavy applications of fertilizer, defoliation, etc. I like happy...

About to order diy cob for the first time and from KingBrite.

Hey, good spot Boatguy. If you're gonna use holders, just use some good-quality thermal paste. Arctic Silver, etc. I found out thru trial and error that COB holders don't push down as vigorously as CPU heatsinks do. CPU heatsinks use springs to create downward force. They tend to squish...

Don't buy Heat sinks from Hangzhou Langteng Machinery on Alibaba.

Thermal transfer will be compromised wherever there are holes behind the COB instead of metal. Packing extra thermal paste into the holes won't make a bit of difference. Unless you're running these COBs at the ragged edge, I'd be inclined to think that a couple of holes wouldn't be the end...

    LED Yeild Efficiency?

To be fair, your thread is labeled "LED Yield Efficiency". To address ttystikk's original comment, which I misinterpreted, before the seedlings have broken ground all you need to do is keep them warm (70 to 80 F) and hydrated. They don't need light. Once the seeds break ground and give your...

    LED Yeild Efficiency?

After posting my dissertation, I read your post again and realized you were probably referring to the Vipar running at full screw at this stage of the grow. You even said "why not use T5's" so it was pretty obvious really. Thanks for the clarification.

    LED Yeild Efficiency?

Budsonwheels, don't take offense, OK? You post a couple of innocent questions, then get treated harshly. ttystikk may have been a little bit cruel with his assessment. But people who have spent hours on this forum learning from others, and hours inside their grow rooms learning on their own...

    leaf problems

Do you know the pH of the water you're using? Google "pH marijuana range" and read the first few hits if this is something you haven't looked into yet. The cheapest way to at least get a rough idea of your pH is probably with an aquarium or pond kit. Make sure to buy a fresh kit, not one...

    Best LED's For The Money

Yes, I have an idea about where to mount the driver. Don't put it on the frame. Mount it outside the closet. I hung mine vertically in a corner so that air flows around all four sides. Vertical encourages air to move past. Don't worry about voltage drop - the voltages are too high to have...

    Best LED's For The Money

Depends. If you're sure you're gonna run small groups of lights at different intensities, it might make sense to use more drivers. If that's not the case, then why introduce more wires and plugs? The COB holders (the Ideal ones anyway) aren't rated for more than 250V, so it appears to me...

    Best LED's For The Money

I've noticed people mentioning one COB per square foot as a rough guideline. But as with everything else, don't consider that a hard & fast rule. If you're gonna run the COBs soft (my preference) you'll want to crowd 'em in a little bit. A lot of people are bolting their COBs in place. I...

Donald Trump just gave a Black History Month speech about the persecution of Donald Trump

Jeez, I can't get over that picture of Drumpf and the helicopter. Look how small his hands are compared to that big plush butt. You could read that two ways, and both would convey my feelings about the fat fascist. He HAS a big ass, plus he IS a big ass.

I think MG makes a sterile starter soil, and if you used that you're fine. Anything Miracl-Gro with time-release fertilizers can be dangerous because you have no control over how quickly they're released. I imagine you could slow it down some by keeping the soil on the dry side, but that's not...

Botony? Yeah, I can tell you're the expert. Self-proclaimed maybe. Is this Trump-land? A place where alternative facts thrive? I link an article that says... "Every part of a plant breathes." Which clearly contradicts your claim that plants breathe only thru their roots. Your response...

Some urban legends just won't die. Remove all the plastic! Let the poor thing breathe. Don't create a stagnant environment that encourages mold. You want to keep it warm, like at least 70 to 75 degrees F, but you don't want to cut off airflow.
