When you say a dry period, I usually wait for the first 2-3 inches to be bone-daddy dry but if i kept digging I would feel moisture, is that ok? Or should I let the pot dry out even more? I've just been waiting for it to feel really dry on top and the pot to feel light weight again and I water.

Botanicare has Cal/Mag that doesn't raise PH. It's organic as well. I'd def say Calcium since it's starting at the top. Dolomite and Oyster shell is what Sub-cool puts in there. Did you skip out on the Lime?
