    Seedlings Not Doing Well

they're definitely not over-watered... the cups are cut out for drainage and he always lets the soil dry out to the point of pulling away from the sides of the cups before watering it again. i dunno, maybe the "moisture retaining" soil retains moisture a lot better than i would have imagined...

    Seedlings Not Doing Well

thanks for the advice. he hasn't added the worm castings yet, but he probably will soon. regardless of how they look, they're going outside at the beginning of june at the latest, into some good organic soil, so hopefully they'll perk up then. they're still not looking that good. when they got...

    Seedlings Not Doing Well

well my friend got over-eager and went ahead and started his seeds in some miracle-gro moisture control potting mix. :wall: of course this was too strong for the little babies and they quickly started to turn yellow and wilt. now my other friend came over and attempted to save them by gently...

    200w hps street light bulb

i can get a generic 200w bulb but the spectrum is mediocre; a lot of red and not much else. can i use a 150 or 250 watt horticultural light in a 200 watt ballast? results on google were inconclusive.

propagating this season's plants for next season

so the only solution y'all can think of is to make one of them turn into a hermaphrodite? i must say i don't like the sound of that. could he take a branch off the nicest one, once they flower, and clone it in that closet after the rest of them get harvested? or would it be too late to do it...

obtaining good soil for indoor/outdoor growing

i heard that the slow-release fertilizers in miracle gro lend a strange taste to the bud. all 4 plants got mixed together once they got harvested so i couldn't really tell. the bud did taste a little weird but that could be the way it got cured, or anything. miracle gro makes a number of...

propagating this season's plants for next season

last time i had some decent bag seed. it turned out ok. this time i got some real quality seeds- some semi-stabilized master kush and granddaddy purp crossbreed- and i want to be able to grow 'em again in case i can't get any more of them. the problem is i don't have a very big space to do all...

obtaining good soil for indoor/outdoor growing

obtaining good soil for indoor/outdoor growing

the only store in my area that carried foxfarms soil closed a few weeks ago. the nearest store is about a 200 mile round trip. i don't want to use some cut-rate soil in my buckets but i don't want to have to ship big bags of dirt through the mail if i can help it, either. is it worth it to...

trying to wire up a 200w hps street light

i don't think any of it is, the corner of the transformer is a little bent but the capacitor and the circuit board ignitor seems to be ok and even the ceramic socket appears undamaged. the metal shell of the street light gave its life to protect its contents. RIP

trying to wire up a 200w hps street light

some drunken idiot ran his car into a pole near my house and knocked it over. the street light fell off and smashed on the concrete. the metal housing was cracked through, the bulb was obliterated with its base stuck in the socket, and the light was rendered entirely unfit for use. so i asked...
