    You definitely want to keep your PH lower than you would for soil - the magic number that I've seen a lot on these forums is 5.8. As for water temperatures, 68 degrees is what you are shooting for. Keep your PPMs fairly low to start off with until you start getting some feedback from the plants...

    Looks like stain to me. The best way to tell is by smelling them. If they smell like sprouts or have very little smell then you have nothing to worry about.
