Introducing CobKits.com - specializing in DIY and Citizen COBs

oh i guess the 50v volt drivers at 700ma (35w) would draw about the same wattage at the 36v at 1.05 amps (38w). That works out to 75-80 watts per heat sink, I want to keep the power draw relatively the same as my current setup and just increase the amount of photons. That being the case maybe...

No they are in ideal holders.. the pictures are old.. the heat sinks can handle something like double what i have on there right now.. i can run them passively in the current setup but the fans are dual purpose.. they are 3000 rpm industrial fans that move enough air that i don't need anymore...

Thanks for the reply.... I'm a machinist so drilling holes is no problem... Its 4 heats sinks with 2 chips on each, so 3 chips per driver doesn't work for me.. The chips are top bin CXA3070 3000k AB's. I also have some other Z4s I put in a drawer a long time ago because I thought they were to...

hey @CobKits, I'm looking for a recommendation for upgrading my almost 3 year old CXA3070 setup... basically I want to reuse my 4 heatsinks and drivers and just change the cobs/holders... Currently I have 2 HLG-185h-c1050 drivers running 8 cxa3070 on 5.886" heatsinkusa profiles. What is the...

    my disaster drawer

I'm just waiting for a nano v3.0 to arrive so I can finish off my 4 relay timer project box V1. It will control the lighting and flower initiators of the 2 tents and keep them in sync. V2 which I am almost done the coding for will be a later upgrade, it will have the option to set the time and...

DiY LED Grow Lights with CREE CXA3070 COBs and CPU Coolers

@Gadgetboy Usually if you're going to be working with the little guys people buy them already reflow soldered on to stars. You can do it yourself with a sinkpad or similar product but it requires a little more skill, equipment and a stencil specific to the chips you have. I have never done it...

I have problems with the current version of fritzing in debian stable so I don't use it. This new version seems to run much smoother than the one in the repos, I just downloaded and extracted the tarball, ran ./fritzing and it all seems to work pretty good. I will test it out, I hope it works...

    Heatsinks for DIY LED lamps

The 10.08 is one of HSUSAs worst designs for passive cooling, the fins are too tall and too close together. It is however a serious chunk of aluminum and will work great with only the slightest amount of air movement. The 10.000" and the new 12" profile they have listed on their frontpage would...
