let's get 1 thing straight
I WILL BE BUYING A HTG LIGHT SETUP FOR MY NEXT GROW, AND SEROPONIC SETUP. FOR THIS GROW I WILL NOT SPEND A DIME. I DO NOT CARE IF THEY DIE, IF I CANNOT BORROW/TAKE WHAT I NEED I WILL NOT USE IT. I'M SORRY JUST FOR THE INTEGRITY OF THE THREAD. I WANT TO EXPERIMENT WITH HOW FAR I CAN GO WITH FREE STUFF. I KNOW YOU GUYS WILL HATE ME BUT IT'S SOMETHING I WANNA TRY...
speaking of my next grow, even though i plan on spending alot of time/money on it, i got the resevoir for my aero setup FOR FREE! a brand new 35 gal. rubbermaid duratote w/ locking lid.
as for stealing from gramps, i didn't steal anything he gave me most of the stuff when i asked no questions asked since it was just sitting in his garage. but anything he didn't GIVE to me, i just to grandma i was BORROWING it, and they'll never be the wiser. like i said all this stuff was just collecting dust in the garage/shed.
and iblazethatkush you are one lucky bastard! he was an asswhole so you don;t even feel bad. hey btw got lights you don't need? lol remember it free if someone gives it to me.thanks everyone for dropping in and keep the info/comments coming!
I know you said that origanaly, but it sounded like you were copping out man, you said somthing like, I dont think its going to be that good since its soo cheap or somtihng, sounded like you changed your mind

no i'm not yelling at anyone i really appreciate all the input/advice you guys are leaving it's all really helpful and whatever i can't use for this grow, i'll use for my next one.

covert-doing ok i guess. one is breaking through the soil a little bit.
questions-
1) the plant that broke through is yellowish in color and has a bit of a brown tip whhat does this mean???
2) should i start using fert/plant food yet? i haven't and don't want them to die since i didn't add somethign i had sitting there, and no i don't no if the scott's premium potting soil had any nutes in it, i just scooped a bunch out of the bag at gramps'.

you know now that i think about it. one reason they might not be growing is the shreaded up styrafoam. that could be inhibiting natural growth. i would dig up the seeds and replant them in the soil with out the styrafoam. i understand that you put the styrafoam in there to mimic perlite. but perlite is so much different than styrafoam. i have never heard of anyone using styrafoam as a perlite replacment befor so i cant be 100% sure on it but i personaly would ditch it.

whether you plan on spending money or no money. i suggest you kill everything and go read a book or some growfaqs.
because to be quite frank & honest....your plants wont live/last long especially with the terrible ass environment you have them in. and that isnt being rude or negative....that is telling it like it is.

your plants probly have nute burn from the scotts soil.

no brother what they put in soil you buy at the store is a little rock like thing called perlite (it feels like a lava rock and has the same texture). it retains water and also fights off bacteria and vermin. its a great soilless mix alot of people that grow hydroponicly use it as a medium. but long story short perlite is a far cry from styrafoam. i could see how you could mix the two up but i dont think styrafoam mixed in with soil is a suffiecient mixture to grow.

loudblunts-first of all thanks for your post, i appreciate your input on the situation. by the way yes i have DONE some research a fair ammount in my opinion. also what makes the environment so terible in your opinion? i know the lights are not good but, again i'm in the process of fixing this. also why would you suggest killing everything? what type of positive could come of that, even if they or only one even grow 1/2 and inch then keels over, i'd consider it sucess since I HAVE NOT DROPPED A DIME ON THIS. this grow is more or less to keep my mind going until i start my aero grow. again thanks for your information and opinions, kepp them coming. no offense taken.

the scotts probly has nutrients already in it like miracle grow. and this could be very detrimental to seedlings since they dont want nutes until 3rd-4th node.

i also got a new humidity/temperature gauge. i did a little mounting bracket out of cedar out of my humidors looks good to me only the humidity gauge is bigger then the temperature and the temp is in celsius... o well it'll do for free. also here are some pics of the gauge and duratote...

i did not know scotts premium had nutes... i have only been using tap water boiled then left out over night with the cap off. will this flush they soil? oh well if they die that'll give me more reson to start over BETTER.

Used it, learned from my mistake and I just saved them in time.I switched too fox farms ocean mix and there looking way better.As you can see the MC was nute burning my babys. And look at em now 48 hrs later!!
