Thanks Willie, yea that screen is nuts and I'm so glad I didn't wait any longer to start flowering. I'll probably have to thin it out a bit this weekend. I'm really looking forward to using clones and not having these phenotype variances that you get with plants from seed. I don't think I've ever had two plants from the same genetics that behaved the same.

That's a really good question. I follow @curious2garden in the grow forums and she takes her clones at two weeks into flower and doesn't bother with mother plants. I believe she said there's about a month delay for their hormones to return to vegetation state. After this grow I want to clean the room and figure out a better way to move air around so I probably won't need clones for nine or ten weeks.

Like you I'm switching from beneficials to sterile for my next grow. I'm running pool shock in the cloner and so far so good.

Actually if you take them from the plants lower branches at 2 weeks or under you don't have that much auxin production so they don't have to reveg much if at all. If you take them later in flower and I have taken clones as late as 8 weeks into flower. then you have a month and sometimes 6 weeks of reveg.

I love your new grow setup, very lovely

LG,
When I looked up that strain, it mentioned the need to "prune", so it must be a leafy strain.

I haven't ran clones yet. I have taken some, just for practice though.
I was just reading about how running a sterile cloner is supposed to improve your success rate of rooting. I hope that is the case for you.

If this new start that I was gifted, ( 1968 ) is as special as it is said to be, I will be keeping it going. Clone only and all...

Have you seen Doc's Zombie run she has going? Crazy! She's a Nut! Love it!

I wish the stars aligned better for me. I lollipopped them two weeks ago and took tons of small shoots off from under the canopy that would have made perfect clones. I just didn't have the clone area ready until this past weekend.

Thank you, I'm so happy with the new setup and it was pretty cool to go from designing everything and actually seeing it built. There's a few deficiencies I'd like to fix like air flow and where I've located the carbon filter. I'd also like to put a few more grab handles on the walls. That's been so handy when working at the back of the screen. I can stand on the door ledge, hold onto one of the handles and reach right into the back corners.

I've probably taken three grocery store bags of leaves off the two plants in the past two and a half weeks. A couple times I thought I took too much but you could barely tell I did anything a couple days later. I'm a firm believer in defoliation during veg and the first three weeks of flower. I used to believe that every leaf was precious and they'd hermi if you snipped one. My worst grows were ones that I didn't do anything but tuck leaves. I also grew four plants in a 3x3 which is retrospect was crazy. This was my barney's farm lsd. the tallest cola in the center was six feet tall lol. I didn't do any defoliating, only tucking.

Were you successful with your test clones? I'm kinda surprised that ones I took haven't wilted or anything like that. They still look as fresh as the did when I cut them. I got the turboklone that curious2garden recommended and it's awesome! There's a little fan on the back that blows air through a channel on the bottom. The res temps have been stable at 71°

I've been trying to keep up on your and Amber's grows, it's difficult when the notifications don't always work.

Those were the last mothers I kept. I finished flowering them out under that plasma light.
Those are trees!

LOL the stars aligned perfectly ;D just fill a Solo (or whatever good size cup you have) and put your cuttings in the plain water. They will stay alive and sometimes root on their own if it's cool enough. Essentially they use N while they sit so once you put them in your cloner they root rapidly. I always have cups full of cut clones that I keep until after my clones in the cloner have rooted just in case I lose some in the cloner.

@tyler.durden posted that he left cuttings sitting in a glass of water and they rooted. I can't find the post again, but I was kicking myself when I read it.

Honestly it's not going very well. As you know I've been struggling with powdery mildew. It returned and I spoke with a guy at the hydro store and he gave me a sample of doktor doom which I used at lights off and the next morning I used a 40/60% milk water spray once the lights were on. Good news is I haven't seen any new signs since the weekend but my confidence level is very low.

My brother in law left the cloner unplugged overnight and one of the clones died right away and the other three needed a few more days to fully kick the bucket. I'm not really heartbroken over the them... I mean the guy is a dumbass but they probably had PM too so it's probably best that they're dead.

When it comes back again my plan is to pull them sterilize everything and start over.

It's a shame really, the critical is looking good and stacking nicely from the screen.

Why did he unplug the cloner?

Looking awesome! Keep up the good work . Sending positive vibes! I used that milk spray stuff . Lol. If I recall properly It
Must have not been mixed very well or I did it all wrong or both, because i would see white spots on the leaves from it and get all confused, thinking is that milk spots or powdery mildew. Lol.

I was worried that it would stink like spoiled milk. This was the worst leaf that I found. All the problems were right beneath fan. I've put a bandaid solution in for the airflow and will make something permanent when there's no plants inside.

That's a pita.....I'd say make him do the drive this time.
I haven't searched, but I'm wondering if there's a reverse timer out there. One that he can turn off to do whatever he needs to do and it automatically turns back on after five or so minutes. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it happened again.

Edit: our four plant limit is completely stupid and arbitrary. And they've worded it in such a way that anything no matter what stage is considered a plant and goes against your count. If it was just a civil infraction instead of criminal I'd say screw it and do them at my place.

Maybe it’s just some dust that got onto a damp leaf and not pm!
