just a quick question...how tall will my plants get if i put them in 1 gallon pots

what about just 2 litre pop bottles with black tape around them?

i want them to be about 1.5 ft at their tallest, will they fit in either of these?

Please do not use a pop bottle. I just transplanted mine into one. Not the brightest idea. The roots already hit the wall and started going down 3/4 of the way. It's only been a week.

Learning from eachother's mistakes is one of the best ways to learn. i have two clones in cut off bottoms of 2 liter bottles (ran out of pots for them) they wont be there long. but it was the easier thing to find to poke easy draining holes. i also would not reccomend using this from start to finish .. not saying you cant

The only good thing is you watch the soil and roots, get a good feel for how long it takes the soil to dry while watching. But I imagine it will be a little more difficult to transplant.

easier to control the watering. I now use clear plastic cups, alot of people say don't but they can lick my sac, I get good results. little cups so they are constantly getting fresh water to the roots. since I use clear cups I know when to transfir, when I see roots in the bottom of the cup. makes life easier for me. I don't see why you could not do it your way, but someone said if it ain't broke, meat get the hell away from it lol

since we are early in your grow you might want to think about odor control. I like ona blocks and a carbon scrubber. once the smell hits, you will want something to control it that second!

Personal perference. It is easier for me to move them around when they are in the smaller pots. And it convience is important to me. I am lazy.

much controversy here and after alot of thought here are some reasons to start small and move up.

1. The water as noted
2. The moving ability as noted (mogie you lazy ass)
3. If you are cloning a plant to sex it you wont waste time/space/soil.
4. The roots propogate the soil more evenly, rather than going straight down, getting the rools to propogate the container more maximimizes the nut and water and air intake resulting in bigger better faster growth. (this would be the big reason.)

p.s. AllMeatNoPotato: your attitude on clear cups makes me feel better. i ran out of small pots and planted two clones into clear 2 liter bottoms. i was wondering about it, i always like to learn from others expierences!

i am mostly looking to be growing 4 mothers. and i wanted to keep them about 1.5 feet tall, so i gess im just gonna use small cups first...so then how do i know when to transplant them?

i use an ionic breeze too. lol. anyway, when the roots have filled the cup. (if its clear you can see this as they hit the sides and bottom.)

For mother plants I would use larger container than 1 gallon, esp if you want to keep them for awhile.
One gallon works very well for flowering plants in, if you don't let them veg too long or get too big.
Flower when they are 1 foot or less and you should be fine.
You can fit a lot more of these 1 gallons under lights than larger containers, so if you keep them sorta short you don't sacrifice too much in yield using smaller containers...(depending on strain).
I like to start seeds once they pop open, in 16 oz Styrofoam cups, I transplant to larger container after a couple of weeks.
I have grown plants to mature, potent buds in containers as small as 16 oz.
....you get a much smaller yield, and the little buds have to be watered more often, but it can be done. They turn into little popsicles, even without pruning them.
I have done this with lots of the plants I am too lazy to transplant, after they don't make the “cut” for transplanting, and they also turn out to be female! I only kill the males!
I grow using soil-less mix.
