1 month old plants

This is my first grow and I am wondering how I am doing? I have five plants they are all great white shark from seed. They are in a mix of Miracle Grow potting soil and Miracle Grow moister control (I know I know) in 12 inch pots. I started growing them under 2 4ft florescent bulbs 6500k and 2 4ft florescent grow-lux bulbs, then as I got a little more money I bought a 250 watt HPS and MH light. The ballast was to heavy to hang from the ceiling (I'm sure its possible and probably not that difficult to find a way to hang it but im happy with where it is) so I set it in a stand (card board box) to the left of my plants and put a reflector over the top of it to direct the light. I rotate my pots daily so they all get equal amounts of light. I also use Jack's Classic all purpose 20-20-20 maybe once a week at 1/4 strength. so I have a few questions 1. how do they look to you? Are they doing well for being a month old? 2. The biggest one is 13 inches tall and growing, the three medium sized ones are probably around 11 or 12 inches and then my smallest one which got started a few days behind the rest because of a long germination period is only maybe 7 inches. 3. I was wondering if I can start flowering soon because of space constraints I do not want them to be to much bigger than 2 feet tall and I am even more worried about how bushy they might get. 4. When I do flower should I change all of my florescent bulbs for the high red spectrum bulbs or should I only change out the 2 6500k ones and leave in the grow-lux bulbs? Hello Ames. They are looking good to me. I would suggest that you top the main stem and give them 4 or 5 days to recover. This will create two "main colas" instead of one. you can flip to flower at any time that you wish. I would leave in the some blue (spring) color. This spectrum will help produce them trichs that we love so much. Hope I have helped and let me know if I can help any more.

Thank you! Would you recommend topping all four of my taller plants? I shouldn't top the little one right? And this might be a stupid question but when you say give them 4 to 5 days to recover do you just mean that that is probably how long it will take for them to repair themselves and start growing again or is there a special "recovery" treatment they need? like maybe extra water for 4 to 5 days or something like that idk? lol thanks again

i thought you always wanted warm for the redish for flowering... you would want to have 3 warms and 1 blue

and yes they look ready to be switched to 12/12. one month is a good veg time. they will double in size well flowering. they are just shorter and bushier cause your lights are close to your plants making them not have to stretch for light so they grow wider

Would anyone have a guess on how much these plants will smell when they are about ready to be harvested? I live in a pretty small apartment so if they are going to really be pungent I need to start planning smell control now.

looking good! yes if you have height restriction you will want to top them....(they stretch during first 2 weeks flowering, usually double in size)...then give them a week to recover before switching lights to 12/12.)
since you are using an hps its ok to have other side lights at 6500k color temp

Thanks for the advice I already own the red bulbs ( I forget the exact temp) so its no problem to change the 6500k bulbs unless a little blue light is good during flowering? and even if a little blue light is good don't they get that from the glow-lux bulbs? They don't have a temp on them but the light they admit is purple so i figure it has blue light? Or do you think leaving my 6500k and my Glow-lux are best?

since you have the hps, which is red, you can run the 6500 aswell....will be good for them...like a full spectrum...its good to mix em

sounds like your babys will be loving ur lights. atm i got 3 cfls 2 bright whites 1 warm and when i flower imma switch other way around. should work for me
