1" pvc to 1/4" drip line fitting?????? help

can anyone that can answer this Q.

how can i go from a 1" (supply line) pvc pipe to 1/4" drip line(going to my jets for a possible aero build. i might do a E&F, though, after reading al b fuct's thread. still contemplating), that i will be using for an experimental aeroponic build? what fitting do you suggest i use? also can you give me a link of where to buy one and what it looks like. thanks a bunch..

I went crazy trying to find a fitting that would fit on my pump at lowes and home depot.

Finally, I said fuck it, and ended up just buying an end cap for the PVC, then drilling a hole in it the exact size of the coupler that fits into the pump, and glueing it into the end cap. I can take a picture if you cant picture it in your head. It's pretty simple, and saved a lot of time and frustration trying to find the stupid fitting to go from PVC to the pump. You can also use different size PVC... 1/2 to 1 inch. The glue I used is redhot pvc glue.

hey yak, thanks for helping.....ya i kinda can picture it but pics are always good.... i must not have been clear enough on my question..... let me reword it, im thinking about doing and aero unit with 6'' pipes, im going to run a piece of 1'' pvc(can be anysize though, i.e. 1/2" or 3/4" also.... im calling this my "supply line") parallel to the 6" tube.. im thinking about putting a mister/emitter/sprayer/jet(w/e you want to call it) on each side of the net pots. this "supply line" is going to run external to the 6" tube, so i need to somehow tap into this "supply line" and go to a 1/4" dripper line, without leaks obviously. ohh mabe this will help.... this supply line will run the whole length of the 6" pipe. i want to tap into the sides of the supply pipe with a fitting. i will cap the end of this supply line, but i wont be tapping into the end cap, just the length of the pipe. so i want to be tapping into the sides, like where the finger holes are on a flute.

so instead of a flute picture a pvc pipe, and instead of finger holes i want to put a fitting to connect into the pipe and then go to 1/4" drip line hose... i hope im clear.... ya, any ideas anyone? it would be greatly appreciated...

I did the same thing, but I tried to use the redhot blue glue, and it didnt seal, I am not sure what type of glue to use, but I will add pictures of what I used.

the connections in the pictures may leak, but they are inside of my res, so the only difference may be in what type of glue you'd want to use to get a good seal. Maybe abs glue? I probably put pressure to my system before it dried so it may not have sealed properly.

yak yak yak, yep yep yep thats what im looking for! exactly! thanks alot man. ya im looking for a fitting to do exactly what you have depicted except i cant have leaks because these joints/fittings will not be in the res. i was thinking about using fittings that are threaded so i could drill and tap the pvc pipe so to produce a VERY TIGHT(tight like a tiger lol) seal. are those threaded? what are they anyways? would you recommend using those out of the res? i dont think my need to be 90 degree elbows though, st8 would work fine. i wish i knew plumbing hardware more. well i do know a little plumbing, but this isnt the kind of plumbing that ordinary plumbers work with. once again thanks yak!

Yo WeTar.... they dont have to be 90 degree angles, they have straight ones too, they are 1/4 inch barbed fittings. If you glue it right, it will not leak... maybe someone else here can make a suggestion for a glue that wont leak. The fittings are black, like ABS, but of course the pipe is PVC, I'm sure there is a glue that would work between them to make it water tight.

Another option, is to do as fletch suggests, which is what I'm doing now because my pumps dont seem to want to push enough pressure to go through the 1/4 inch black tubing... so I am going to run a 1/2 pvc pipe into my 4" fence post aero setup.

if it's inside the post, if they leak a little, it wont matter.

You can find most of these fittings at lowes or home depot around the drip irrigation sprinkler system area.

I'm learning this stuff as I go along, and I'm glad to help anyway I can.

sweet, ill have to check them out next time i go to home depot! too bad they arent threaded, i can do some test ones b4 i actually go focking with all of them.

ya, ive read his aero journal and im very impressed with his grow. i was thinking about doing his setup but he never got around to post/explaining how to build the rest of his setup in one of his threads. another thing that worries me is roots clogging the jets because the jets are in the root chamber and not held up hight. its working for him, but he built it and i would probably configure it wrong. i was reading earls shuttle journal

and i like how he configures the jets way up high. that guy is super smart btw! he knows his shyt. i want to have more than 4 plants, his setup uses some sort of brass connections that would cost a pretty penny. im a budget grower, aka poor, so i need to go cheap.

dude thats pretty sweet what you did with the pump i just went up to the size of tubing on the pump and ran my 1/4's off that half inch tubing
