10 plants in a 5x5

I’m doing a small pheno hunt, but I would like to produce a little as well. I have a 5x5 tent open, and I plan on growing 70/30 coco perlite mix. What pot size would be best? I was thinking 1 gallon smart pots.

Just my 2 cents. .. If you're going to pheno hunt, you need to be able to have maximum veg time (at least 7-8 weeks), otherwise, you're not going to be able to see that phenos full potential. ... which is why we pheno hunt. 1 in a 5x5 CAN get you a couple of lbs with a really long veg, good training and a bit longer flower time. 10 in a 5x5 is going to be too much. You'd have to do a short veg, do more work, feed more pots, etc. Pheno hunting 10 would require at least 80 sq ft. I guess it just depends on what you're looking to do... but a pheno hunt in a 5x5 is unproductive.... unless you do them 1 or 2 at a time.

lol no problems, it will be tight. Heres a pic i took today there's 11 pots (12 once I pot the last solo cup) all in 3 gal pots in a 4x4.

Having 9 in a 5x5 is doable, just don't top and lst too much so they grow up rather than out. And you will end up with nice big dd colas.
thank you…looking back I was just really stoned on fresh weed and over thinking my next step bongsmilieo_OThey are regular seeds, it’s looking like 9 will pop total not 10, so I’m sure I will get at least one or 2 males, im guessing I’ll have 6 females maybe, then I have a Georgia pie bagseed that I started at the same time I’ll throw in if there is room.

Yes cool, having 9 or less will be tight but is not too much for a 5x5 especially with a shorter veg before flip. If it gets a bit overcrowded to skinny them up you can always cut a bunch of smaller side branches which has the benefit of giving you a heap of clones for the next run. Here's my 5x5 with about 8 plants, pots are a few 5 & 7 gals for the photos and a few 1 & 3 gals which are auto's to fill in the gaps.

Using 3x200w fixtures and i got i'm guessing around the 1.5 pound mark once all said and done (some plants still drying so guessing their final weight.)

I may be unlucky, but i have never gotten that good a ratio of male to female with a pack of regs. Once popped a half pack and every single one was male, so i am hoping that the rest of that pack is female.

I’d have to disagree here as most people wouldn’t have room to flower 10 females under 10 lights.
When hunting for me it’s all about maximum potential genetics in the shortest amount of time. Time is money and the whole point of looking for keepers is to get that keeper into production as soon as possible.

and you really can get a good sense of plant even if they are small

Like I said.. just depends on what you’re looking to do, and I didn’t know he was popping regs, so that does change things.

I agree this is ideal, but when hunting in limited space I run a clone from each seed. It's more work but I find it to be a better way to judge each.

It was an at most type of thing, but hey if you got 10 males, someone somewhere should thank you because someone had to get 9 or 10 females on the flip side
