100 or 150 watt hps bulbs in a standard bathroom fixture?

Lowe's has these bulbs for $20 each. I figure 3 150 watt hps bulbs for $60 is better than 1 400 watt hps light set up that costs $150, but can I run those in a standard bathroom light fixture like I have modified in my sig or do they need a ballast? Isn't the only problem that they will burn hotter? I was going to run them in combination with 4 42 watt 2700k cfls & 5 6500k 26 watt cfl's. Will be close to 750 watts. Hoping this will be enough light to get me through flowering. Any help is appreciated.

what do the lowes bulbs look like . you did't show any pics. if they are like the ones at home depot , you are gonna need a ballast.

All HPS bulbs need a ballast. I wish it wasnt so, but after much time researching, I discovered there is no such thing as a "self-ballasted" HPS, and there are many dangers that can result from not using a ballast. =(

It's not just the ballast. HPS bulbs want a ceramic (fireproof) screw base to fit into because of the 4-5 thousand volt "starting pulse". No home should burn down before its' time!
