1000 watt HPS, how far is too far????

i have a 1000 watt HPS, and due to limited space, other tall crops in same room, and whatnot i hav to put 2 week old crops on the floor, they are in 3 gal pots. the light is around 5 to 5 1/2 feet away from them, the light is acually like around 6 feet off the ground. And i was wondering if this would be ok to get a decent amount of light???

It will just make it stretch more if you put it up higher. I don't think there is a 'too high' but there surely is a too low for that light if that is what you are asking.

18" - 24" is about the norm for 1000hps, but let someone else confirm that too. I use one and got the damn thing too close recently and destroyed about 20 girls on 12/12 from seed.

If you can prop them up on stuff like other pots to even out the canopy so there's no question about them getting enough light.

yea i usually do, and have somke big plants at like 18 inches away from light right now, but due to limited space i have no choice but to put some 25 or so plants on the floor with my other big one`s, so i can`t lower the lgiht anymore because of plants already close enough. and never put anything that far away, and was just wondering if anyone here has ever put plants this far with good results with a 1000 watter hps. or has ever heard of this.

i cannot prop on anything, or anything like that, they HAVE TO be on floor, is what i am saying

What size room is it ? And are you doing a 12/12 from seed ? or lowryders or something?

i am doing 12/12 from seed on this grow, well acually from 1-2 weeks. and i can`t say how big the room is, probilly like 10 feet x 10 feet, at least but the way the setup is, and due to massive amount of crops in their i have to put them on floow, so you can see my delima. I really need some input on this, i have always put my plants arouns 18 inches from light, and i am in the dark on this and don`t wanna fuck up my crop.

Put your short plants directly under the light and the taller ones towards the outside of the lighted area.
