1000 watt HPS?

I'm about to start a grow but am curious as to whether I should use a 1000 watt hps or a 600 watt hps. I am going to do four plants. Should I let them stretch or keep em short. First time so trying to get it all dialed in. Room will be 4x4x7.

you always can add more light but its harder to take it away with one lamp. i have 1-600 and 1-400 and a T5 all used during various cycles. your size a 600 will do fine but with the right ventilation for heat and smell and 1K would be tits

You will do fine with the 600 and it is more efficient than the 1000. 100w a plant golden rule.
I got 2 grows going on now with 4 under a 600.

Thanks guys. Ive had such mixed tellings about which one is better.one will say the more light the better another will say ones more efficient. I don't know if this ultimately matters or not but my box will be in a room of a constant 55 degrees, so should I use the 1000 just to make sure temps stay up in the box? It's a air cooled hood.

The problem with a 1000w in a 4x4 is way too many lumens for such a small space and you will most likely bleach your plants. I have tried in my 4x4 with a 1000 and did just that also you will have the heat issue as well.

Maybe I will just up the size of my room, the 1000 watt comes free of charge lol. I'm going to do dirt my first couple of grows and ideas on a good soil to start with or should I mix my own.
