if on 24 schedule, the first dark cycle shows initial stretch. that is your first sign of flower.

but only if you did it right and it is healthy.

Generally 5 days for pistils bursting out of everywhere is what I'm looking for if that didn't happen I know my plant wasn't mature enough. Anything more than 7 days and I know my yield will suffer because my plants weren't mature enough. Mature plant has a huge advantage.

My plants grow until they are done. I used to harvest according to what effect I wanted, stone or energetic high. Now I just grow a potent Indica if I want to slobber on myself and harvest at peak ripeness. All white trichs if possible. If not I go by trichs and pistils.

how i see it:

you already have pistils, esp if using cuttings.

transition is stretch which starts day (or to be precise) night one

early flower is after the two week stretch, meaning week two

week four, you have flower balls (true buds but tiny). this is week four of flower

buds grow and pack and dense and trich up. this can take 4 weeks or 8+ depending on strain.

so, day one of flower is the first day after the first dark cycle. gh even thinks so, which is what i've used for more than a decade.

this gives you your 8-16 week flower period that is labeled.

but however, not every individual will conform. seeds are like humans, each is a unique individual with it's own dna sequence. one might go 7 weeks while another goes 10.

that, right there, is why we keep moms and grow a crop of plants that are known.

fuck pistils. i grow until they are ''done''. you can tell, the overall color changes.

i also wait for the swell, calyxes will look like they have seeds in them, even though they don't. i never chop until the swell is complete. it's eyeball for me, but i've been doing this for over 20 years so i might just be spoiled by experience.

I speak in laymens terms. If you know what your looking at the plant will tell you when its ready. I take everything into consideration. Ive been in horticulture for going on 23 years. 11 years on a serious level. But everyone should take trichomes and pistils into consideration when determining ripeness..

i feed up to 3000ppm up to the day they come down, and my shit flies off the shelf. potent, great flavor, and pure white ash.

drying is where people fuck up. just dry it full, re-hydrate if it gets crunchy, and it's fully decarboxylated and ready for the bag/jar/capsule/etc.

if you ever over-dry, hang branches in the bathroom and turn the shower on full hot. wait an hour, and remove. buds will be spongy/damp; let sit until proper moisture level is achieved, then jar/bag/vacuum seal.

smell will be awesome if plant is good. potency will be awesome if same. bag appeal will be perfect.

i ALWAYS wait until the re-bloom.

pistils die, and after a few weeks, new flowers grow, with new white pistils. all of my finished product has a combination of dead-to-new pistils. re-bud is important, and adds to final yield.

I'll see. I removed one 7g bud a little early because it was in my way. The rest is being flushed with FloraKleen for 3 days then just water for 4 days. I hang in 50% humidity until almost dry then cure in jars for 2-4 weeks. Quality is so much better. I cure to about 6% moisture.

i air dry til stems snap, re-hydrate if necessary.

i've never gotten three pounds on a 1k, but i've gotten close, more than 2.5...
