anybody running a 1000w air cooled in a med cab with ac? it runs under 79 with out ac but ive got fans blowing in the cab and the air intake for the light is on the hood, i want to extend the intake outside the hood via 4" dryer hose so that it can vent the light with outside air, Im installing a 5000btu window ac in the bottom of the cab but wondering if its ok for my ac to kick on every 10 to 15 mins, the cab measures 30"w x 24"d x72"t so it wont take very long to cool but it also wont take long to heat up. any advice would be helpfull.

sounds good. 79 is not a bd number in a cab, but cooler is better, another trick i picked up off of here is to use a heat blanket on top of the hood to help keep it from radiating all the heat, in turn, helping your fan force more hot air out. just a thought, saved me a heck of alot on the elec bill!!!! also gave me three degrees temp change..... I got 6" ducts ran down to 4", a 6" inline and the heat blanket on top, in a 5x6x8 closet, and my exhaust pushed through my attic. keeps my closet under 77 degrees even on hot days and i live in the high country wherre it is desert and hot all the time....

also the company that sales the "ICE BOX" makes a cover for hoods that keeps thermal heat in the hood to help ex more hot air....useing out side air works great cause then you can run your co2 without wasteing it..

ac should be kickin on and off at temp you set. i would increase ducting size if possible and vent outside grow room air. preferably from low cool areas.

79 is perfect for marijuana, by lowering the temperature your not going to help them or harm them, ur just wasting time, however 76 is way to warm for res temps, thats what you should be trying to fix

thank you guys for your help, ive just ordered a Nano chiller CL-85 off e bay for my res with expedited shipping! If it weren't for this sites help im sure i would of gotten root rot, they are nice, white and hairy I dont want to mess up! As far as moving to 6" duct, do you think it would help the heat coming off the light? ive got a daton 265 cfm to pull and a 4.5" muffin fan pushing, the air is being vented outside, im extending my air intake so it sucks air from outside my grow cab so i can co2 but it will increase my cab temp so fast im thinking my ac will be on and off every 5 or 10 mins. would 6" duct make much dif?
