well my first mistake growing was moving an outside plant in then buying this fkn noncooled 1000w kit. the light is currently not running and I'm back to cfls because of the heat

anyways, just ordering some panda film to replace the light/heat absorbing mirror doors and hopefully fix my light leak problem while allowing me to set up the proper ventilation.

as for the overheating, I'm most likely ordering a portable 11000 btu a/c. should I have this set up inside the gr?
'
I know i'm probably an idiot for not getting a switchable aircooled 600w setup, but the heat almost scourched my girls to death please any info or opinions on what to do are appreciated.

Thats an OK size closet to do a grow in, yes 1000watts is a bit of overkill considering the footprint you have to work with is only 12.5sqft, but you have a good advantage here, your 7' height.

First off take apart your light fixture and move your ballast outside of that room and run wires in to run the light(this is of course if you understand how to deal with electricty).

Next, what is above your closet? Can you drill a 6" hole in the cealing and install a fan to suck the hot air out? If the ambient temperature in the adjoining bedroom is around 70-75F you should be able to suck air in from the bottom of the closet and get the air flowing straight up and pull all of that heat out, you can also put a fan angled up from the base of the closet going towards the light to help move it up to get sucked out from the exhaust fan.

If you are dealing with high temps in the bedroom then you'll have to run an air conditioner. Basically get that heat out from the top of the closet making the air move from bottom to top. If you have the money for one of those expensive portable AC units you should have the money for exhaust fan/ducting/filtering/etc, I would look into doing that first.

not too electrically inclined, you mean have the wires running in from the outside of the closet through the panda film or a gromet of some type?

above my closet is just attic but there are neighboors pretty close (condo). so I could cut a vent in the cealing but I was thinking about cutting one through the wall for an inline fan since it's only 1/2' to the other closet next to it.

bump.
and to be more specific there is a 5" gap of wall between the closets. would drilling through that for a vent with an inline be inefficient? anyone know if the attics of condos generally safe to handle heat? theres a space above my closet before the cealing but i'll try to figure out if there connected or not cause it would be really nice to not have to buy a $400 a/c

ok I get the feeling this topic has been dicussed couple too many times... help me with heating and ventilation blah blah. BUT, check it out. i just had a really high idea to connect the two closets in my room-- with my 1000w hps inbetween the 5" gap-- and possibly(hopefully) split the heat/power between the two?? would this be possible as long as I made sure the hole was big enough and fire proofed??

it would be pretty cool to have 500 watts on each side since I kinda overkilled it with the light. so if I sealed/vented both sides could this idea be plausable?
was gonna use the other side for a dry room since I only have one large plant in flower then a few smaller ones veggin..
any opinions/criticism on the idea would be helpful & welcome
