1000w vs. 600w hps

I was told in this thread that I should be using 2 600's instead of 2 1000's:

Def heat would be my biggest worry....I don't wanna go buy 2 1000w setups and then not be able to manage the heat.

3 600s puts out a more light then 2 1000s if you're gonna go that route and pulls less energy.
