105m3. fan with 75m3. carbon filter?

Hey, i was wondering. Have i made a mistake and got the wrong things?? :o

I have this fan:
Ø 100mm, 230v, 14w, 0.085A, 105m3/hour airflow, 2300rmp

Then i got this filter:
Can, 1500, 75m3/hour

Will this fan run too much air through the filter and mess it up? Or will it do fine? The cabinet im using it in is 500x500x1200mm.

I was also wondering about whether or not i could dim the fan? I think it is a factory voltage hardwired fan, so it cant be dimmed. I tried two different dimmers i had, but they made the fan unstable and could only barely run it or run at full speed. Weird. Do i have to buy a heady duty expencive one to dim the fan???

Please help me, im lost

The fan seems too fast for the filter. Runjing air through it too fast wont damage the filter but it wont scrub the smell.

Get a speed controller for the fan and dial it down a tad. Sounds like youre trying to use a dimmer switch on it which isnt quite the same thing...

Hey man, thanks for answering. Yeah that makes sence with the air not getting scrubbed. I tried two dimmers with no luck. Maybe this fan cannot be controlled with a dimmer, since it has one setting from factory.

But i thought about bying this controller.
It about 65$ tho so i dont know. It alot of money if it doesnt work and dim it from 0-100%. Think it will work???

Ya probably. Likely has a fuse in it so y be safe that way too. I wouldnt expect that youll be able to control the speed to an exact percentage. But it should control by quarters.... 25% or 50% ect... that should be good enough. Run it at 75%...should work...
