10th week flower, flushing and finishing but need help

ok, so here it is. I am currently in week 10 flower and they are finishing nicely but here lies the problem. My roommate thinks that since the top colas are done "meaning that the tich is showing 30-40 % amber" on the tops he thinks that just because the tops are done he thinks for some reason that the lower branches arent done. I had a huge argument with him about this and I dont see his angle on this at all. Now, is he right saying that we should chop the tops only and keep the lower branches going longer or am I right telling him that its done and it should all be harvested together. bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie

A lot of folks do it as your roomie recommended. It makes perfect sense, but I too choose to chop it down all at once. I don't mind a diversity of highs from one plant :eyesmoke: though you could slightly increase your yield by letting your lower branches flower without the top cola blocking the light ;-)

This is why I wanna try supercropping for on my next batch. All tops :mrgreen:

not really... wait what?

people usually harvest the entire plant at once based on how the main cola and top buds are doing. However, this means that lower buds are still slightly immature when harvested, as plants closest to the light finish earliest. So these lower buds end up with a less than potential yield and potency.

If you only harvest the top buds and leave the rest, they will continue to mature to the desired level.

But i'm too lazy for multiple harvests :bigjoint::sleep:

so you agree with him ? I thought when u shock the plant that bad by chopping the whole top off that it takes a long time to revert.

well think of it this way: your plant is slowly dying when it's budding. For the plant, budding is the last resort in passing on it's DNA in the hopes that it might catch some male pollen and make seeds.

so what can it revert to? death is inevitable. So it will give the last of its energy to make more buds.

what i asked was just taking the top buds off i heard it shocks the plant.

I think it is obvious that it shocks the plant, but it seems as though the point is that the plant is in its final stages of life and it doesn't matter. The plant has enough resilience left to let the remaining buds mature a bit more. I would even say that flushing shocks the plant as well.

either way will work, but yes the lower ones will continue to mature once exposed to more light. be patient, late
