That's your biggest problem I think. If you pinched/topped those plants after 4-8 nodes then you'd have a wide bush not a tall stick. The wide bush x the hieght obtained during stretch is what equalls large yeilds. W/ your Grow style needing a dialing in to do this w/ 7' ceilings, you'll definitely need/want strips or bars. 900w over x8 commercially desighned bars (large, finned, glass, detachable, pivoting, modular sets) @ 2.78 umols/j,w/ an enhanced white spectrum, ballanced accordingly, my 900w Bar light evenly covers a 7.5' x 4.5/5' area @ an easy 900+ ppfd around 18-22". With that said, you technically only need two of them. Centered in a 10' room, there's only 1' on either end for a Lil space that won't be there long. The plants will outgrow the 8' space & take up the 1 remaining foot on each side. Spill-over. The Bars Pivot too so the 1' on each side that is well luminated anyways, can have a bar pivoting that way too. This is your least expensive route & you can easy harvest 10#'s on a regular. The two power supplies are recommended to be outside the room for a 30% reduction in HVAC. Each plant can easy be a 4x4' x 3' tall colas. Bar lights claiming 640-720w a 4x4 are compensating for the human/lumen, wh/+red spectrums & also Over-Saturate if following recommendations by the manufacturer. Most manufacturers (pass on false info.) Are providing improper recommended instructions. I scabbed this pic from a previous member here who has the same light as mine. This shows an 8'x5' even coverage situation. 1800w makes x2, done! Apologies I vant show my own room as it's being re-hauled. Goodluck, just use your head. What's recommended by manufacturers and their followers are not always the way to go.
