11 weeks enough for flower after 10 weeks of veg?

Hey guys I am trying to harvest my green-babies before my baby-baby is due!

I've been vegging for 8 weeks - I'd like to LST again (did it once a few weeks ago, untied them to gain some more height) for a couple more weeks to get a little more light under the canopy to bring my veg cycle to a full ten weeks. They started showing pre-flowers a couple weeks ago, also, so I know they're more than ready for flower.

Any ideas on how long it will take a plant to flower after it's been vegging 10 weeks? I'd like to harvest a week or two before my due date so its one less thing to worry about at that time.

By the way they are about 12" tall x 12" wide and gaining faster every day. They would be a lot bigger by now I assume but I came across a few space/light constraints that have since be remedied - but because of it their leaves are a bit thin and stocks a bit spindly but they don't need any propping up.

WEll from everything I've read and have been told is that length of flowering is largely a characteristic determined by the genetics of the variety. I'm sure other factors such as temp enter into it but largely predetermined I believe. I do know there are alot of 8 to 10 week varieties out there but the best way to determine whaqt your looking at is to look up the variety if you knwo what it is.

It depends on genetics mainly, but 11 weeks is a pretty long, some sativas can go longer than that, but the average time for indicas are around 7 - 10 weeks usually.

Thanks for the reply. I kinda' figured it would be a genetics thing and these are some random seeds given to me over time. I've read generally 2-3 months for flowering. Don't suppose cutting the lights after awhile from 12/12 to say 10/14 would speed things up at all? I am not impatient, in fact I won't even indulge until later this summer, just looks like all my babies will be coming in at once and its gon'na be hectic. When it rains it pours but then again "where i come from rain is a good thing."

onjly way to tell is by the trich's

look at them under a 30x microscope and if they are milky/amber opposed to clear then the plant is ready for harvest

always check a plant in atleast 3 different locations to determine if its truely ready.

You can go by this.I like going by when the hairs receed back on the buds and it looks mostly amber..The plant itself

its not good when its mostly amber, well in my opinion. the more heavier stone is a 80% milky 20% amber. when too much turns amber it doesnt get you as high. well from my experience. all the "regulars" have amber crystal while danks have the milky crystal.

Hey .., on that note check out the post by fdd2blk entitled Harvest time....... a tutorial.

He states "most people say to check your trichromes with 30X magnification. i have other ways. when buds are done they look "done". the appearance of the bud changes. the leaves start to hook upwards and become hard and crispy. the calyxes will swell and the hairs will turn brown. you can see a golden tinge to the bud leaves. this is the amber crystals. they start to turn amber on the leaves first."

Look at his pics that go with that entry and hes right.., you'l know when its time...

Depends on the strain to me because i had a white widow go that long and a ak 47 and the stone was way more heavier then when i cut at 70/30 or milky/amber...

Flowering time will remain the same . 2 to 3 months. Vegging time will only help you get you plants closer to the size you want to finish. you can flower now and get a good feel for how the plants grows and produces bud. That way your next grow will not catch you off guard and you will know what to expect. It's all helpfull experience.

I'll keep all those tips in mind, thank you guys. From all ya'll have posted sounds like the timing will be juuuust right. I am far from the checking thrichs stage, but I did read fdd's post and its very helpful. I'm taking clones tomorrow and will move them into flower within the week. They were craaawwwwling along and then I added a 250w hid and some fox farm nutes only three days ago and they SHOT up (huge diff' from our four 48" 6500k t8s). One is more than ready to flower as her preflowers are going amber, she's making me anxious. Mother nature knows!

No just keep it 12/12, that wont speed anything up using 10/14, will only probably limit growth in flower.

Yeah either that or go 13/11 more light should do something better for them.

assuming the plants have shown preflowers already, flowering time is not affected by veg time

if i grow my 14 week thai and let it veg for 2 weeks, or 200 weeks, it is still going to flower for 14 weeks until it's done

Thats just the breeders recommended time under his conditions.
I would say once your plant is mature(showing pre flowers) then it will flower 14-15 weeks now if you put it to flower before that then it might be a couple weeks longer
