11 weeks flowering and no crystals...WTF?!

but these are in trappers terms,meaning i got my grade 12 by doing grade 6 twice.

well, you don't go from veg to flower just because you changed the light cycle. most sativas spend 2-4 weeks making the transition. i'd guess your OP has been in flower for 7 weeks tops...

maybe just my opinion but putting a sativa strain into flower after 30 days of veg seems a bit...off. if you can give sativas about 60 days to actually mature (ie., let it show sex) before going to flower you'll harvest a much better product.

Ive always learned that a plant is in flowering when the amount of time it recieves light is shortened. Like when the seasons change outside. every grow dvd and book says the same thing also, so does every growFaq.

I know growers who say the plant is flowering when it begins budding, but thats wrong. the plants hormones are responsible for the budding taking place, the hormones are killed off by light, so when the amount of time it recieves light is reduced the hormones go into overdrive and that is when it is flowering. that is what happens when u go from 18/6 to 12/12 lighting schedule.

I flowered early bcuz of a couple reasons, mainly bcuz of the CFL's and lack of space. when u grow with CFL's ur supposed to counter the poor light penetration by flowering early.

Its good to know that U belive sativas take 2-4 weeks to make the transition, that would explain why she still looks like she a couple weeks less than what she is. I dunno how true that is bcuz I havent read that anywhere, but ur probably speaking from experience so..its comforting and good to know..

My plant showed sex within the first 4 days of flowering so I think that the 4+ weeks vegging was plenty of time and shows that they were pretty mature.


Im still hoping someone can help me understand the connection between lights and trichomes. if anyone has any articles or links to better help me understand id gladly take a look at it. I would take all u guys word for it but Im the type of person who needs to see it to believe it.

also if anyone has any other useful info on flowering sativas I would really appreciate the input.

you're right, once the light period shortens the plant begins the process of preparing to flower. it takes some plants very little time to prepare while others can take a very long time. most growFAQs and guides (don't know about ours, haven't read it) simplify the entire process into veg., flower, harvest because that's all most people are interested in. pre-flower/maturity steps get kind of overlooked because they will occur along the way.

but yeah, lots of people on this site can tell you that sativas have unique characteristics, even the heavy sativa/indica hybrids. SKH had one go through a meltdown because he sent it to flower at 30 days, think it went on kind of flowering for a few months.. you might have one handle it just fine then another that won't ever finish... if you have enough room and lumens let it show sex and start to alternate on all new growth before 12/12 (13/11, whatever), i'd even do that with indicas personally.



now that you mentioned it, i see the logic with the CFLs and early flowering... that makes good sense. the only growing i've ever done under lights is up to pre-flower - then they go outside.

four 42w CFL's and nine 26w CFL's

I came home today and the top was split in half (the plant was topped and I had 2 large buds up top, I guess she got a lil top heavy and eventually took a split)
]I just cut her down..well most of her anyways. Fuck it man, Im tired of this shit. tomorrow will be 12 weeks flowering for her and shes not giving me the results I want. I tried a test smoke to see if she was ready and didnt even get a as much as a headache..pathetic is all I can say. No fucking crystals...Small and fluffy lower buds..fuck it.

Ive cared for this plant too well for it to do me like this so I just said fuck it. I didnt even give it a proper manicuire, Im so fucking mad!

Here's the harvest, lighter left there for size reference, notice the 2 buds toward the left side of the hanger, those are the 2 top buds that split, you can see the 2 stems that created the split -

Im getting a 400w HPS next week, and Im switching over to hydro. Transplanting all my soil plants into hydro, I may document it on here, step by step with pics and all..or I may just say fuck that too.

I took a moment to look over that last post, the pics almost make it look like I have crystals on the buds, I check at 100x with that shitty radio shack scope and it looks like a million tiny itty bitty crytals on each buds/leaf.

I dunno, maybe enough to get me high after a dry/cure

but as of now Im saying fuck this plant, fuck haze and any other fucking sativa that wants to take forever to produce a shitty yeild.

AK-47 is supposed to give U the sativa type of high, once I get the hydro rolling under the new 400w HPS then I'll probably give my buddy over at nirvana a call for their AK-47. Its supposed to be the most stable one outta all the seedbanks so thats what I think I'll do.

No smell and no crystals if u squeez the bud u might get a smell but its the genitics Cash.. I was using a 400w hps and no crystals and little if any smell and tryed to make oil with the leaf and got very little if i use 1000w im sure it would of been the same all my m8s grew it to uder 600w same problems
thou im not a fan of using cfls for flowering eather but theres enough people on here to prove me wrong that use them happly flowering plants

When the buds were competly dry any smell that was there was gone when u smoke it u will get stoned just a weak stoned and it will smell like weed burning just not that pontent smell every 1 loves

pass it on just an get some good stuff 4 your self thats what id to do
