12-1 is bullshit....

Seeds germinated in fertilizer laden soil can have issues. In the future look for the mg seed starter soil, it has no nutes in it, comes in a small 1 gal bag. Happy growing!

im not even going to fuck with that stuff. lol. sounds disasterous to me honestly. i would be interested to know if its possible and what kind of lighting would have been best for the grow.

A certain amount of light is necessary for plant growth, if the 18/6 schedule is saving energy by being barely enough then switching to 12/1 is no longer feeding the plant. Not cool.

I have been using 12/1 for 4 months, the lights had to be turned up from 70 watts a square foot to 100 watts per square foot. And the light is blending back towards the red end. Stretch is reduced so the extra red goes to root development and maintains stretch at the previous level. End result is thicker stems and more roots for the same plant height. Cool.

No money saving, no super growth. But the chores related to lights on/off are synchronized with the budroom. I like that.

I remember reading the article when it first came out, misleading and a lot of crap mixed in, but 12/1 is a viable alternative for some perpeptual grow systems.

I'm using 24x7 CFL and T5 on the Moms in dwc. Haven't got there, yet. But, not planning any veg period. But, I will be hardening the just rooted clones in the 4 netpot dwc, flower chamber with 24x7, 250w CFL and the water cooled 400w MH higher up. After 2 days of lowering the MH, 24 hrs of MH only,
then 36 hr dark. Then 12/12 on 400w HPS, water cooled. So, looks like 12/1 is not in plan for me.

I'm doing the Gas Lantern technique with my clones. Been doing it for roughly a week now. My clones haven't shown any signs of dying. If anything I've got faster root growth and closer node spacing. Maybe this technique isn't acceptable to all strains?
