wow and you got those results... think ima switch to soil... lol... and tik my germs normally pop up in about a week maybe a lil longer but like i said i wait until they are kinda growing in the paper towel... you have to keep the paper towel moist... ill be germing some today... considering soil but either way i think im def gonna fim/top and LST my ladies this time... especially with my cfl's it will help them get more light along the whole surface of the plant... and tik with your lil lady there i would def check the ph... first thing i always do when im having a problem... you guys have any suggestions for soil... was considering the fox farm ocean soil bc i have a hydro store about 30 mins from my house... but might be too expensive bc i plan on doing 6-5 gallon buckets... so any cheaper source would be much appreciated...

jaag I'm running coco hempy's, so it's passive hydro. It's so simple it's ridiculous. My plants are short, but I don't have much space..just doing what I can lol.

And jaag, I really should be scrogging. I'd get a better yield. I want to re-veg one of my girls and scrog it..not sure if it'll be next run or not. You're right though, with cfl's you want a nice even canopy to utilize what light there is

lol did some reading and found some stuff... do you add vermiculite or perlite to your coco core? and what is your ratio?

No sweat guys, I'm learning from your convo. The guy at the hydro shop told me about coco and swore by it.

Well my moisture meter is suppose to also be a ph meter. I Ph'd my water to about 6-6.5 before me last feed on Monday. My soil is a mix of prolix soil which is suppose to have a ph between 5.5-6.0 and MG Organic which I believe is neutrally Ph'd. I will have to wait until the next feed to check the ph of my runoff. How do you guys check and adjust ph? I used vinegar, was that wrong to do.

My tap water is about 7.8 or so. I just use pH drops, the kind used for aquariums. Once I add my nutes my ph is down to 6.0 and I just leave it there. I could probably lower it a little, but so far I haven't. Your pH sounds ok..just make sure not to overwater. Does your soil drain pretty well?

It does drain pretty well, but my soil stays wet for a long time I think. Do you allow your pots to reabsorb the runoff or do you discard it.

With the method I use to grow I almost can't overwater. I added a couple of pics of my cab to my album, and it shows my hempy containers. Basically there is a hole about an 1 1/2 from the bottom, leaving me a reservoir. I feed every other day until I get some runoff from the hole and that's it. Whatever runs off is absorbed by a towel so I can't reuse it

i will def be trying this method this time around... thanks for the advice warped... tik i started germinating some seeds today... i ran out of paper towels so i decided to try coffee filters (read somewhere that coffee filters might work better bc they arent as thick as a paper towel...we shall see) and im also using dark colored zips to put them in... ill let you know what they do in a couple days...

Yeah I think I like the hempy bucket idea also. I'm thinking of using coco coir with it for one of my next grows. I got to get rid of all this soil I went and bought first.

hey warped what is your ratio of coco to perlite? i was thinking about doing 3 parts coco to 1 part perlite and filling the bottoms of my 5 gallon pots w/ about an inch and a half of gravel...

I don't use any perlite. The only bag I could find was huge and with my grow being as small as it is I couldn't see having it taking up space. The original hempy method actually uses 3 parts vermiculite and 1 part perlite in case you already have that handy

Hey jagg def keep me posted on your germination. I am still waiting on mine to crack. Not sure if it's me or the seeds. I hate blaming the seeds but I did get them for extra cheap. Like 24 for about 30.00 bucks. From sensi seeds.

yea tik it might be your seeds... im using bag seed still bc its free and my results have been good... yea warped i read where they did the 3 to 1 so im thinking of doing a perlite/coco mix...3 parts coco and 1 part perlite... cant wait for these germs to pop and try a new method especially with lst and fim this time around... thinking of getting a 400 watt hps/mh kit though bc i can get 4-6 5gallon buckets in my space comfortably... so ill need the extra light if i plan on doing 4-6 plants... oh and sorry for the hijacking of your thread tik... maybe we should start a new one since we are all doing similar grows and just log them on there..
