What's the worst that can happen if i switch my lighting from 12/12 to 20/4?

maybe hernie, or it may go back to flowering/veging.

if you are in flower and you switch back to a longer light period your plant will start to veg again. Some do this to make sure of the se of the plant forcing it to show sex earlier. In some cases it can cause stress to the plant sometimes resulting in a hermie.... hope this helps

hmmmm i wouldn't mind having a hermie, as im not after the " oh godly smoke " like some extra seeds would be nice with a bit of bud. its an automatic flowering plant, will this effect anything?

you cant reveg a auto....shoulda told us that in th beginning. You can pretty much use whatever light cycle you want on those.
with an auto flowering plant no matter what light cycle it has, its gonna start to bud. the key is giving your auto flowering plant enough rest time to recoup from working all day making that sweet ganj for your enjoyment. I tried doing 18/6 on a rasta x headband and it did just fine.
