1212 Seed Company breeds strains that thrive in 12/12 light cycles from seed. 1212seeds.com

Dirt Stick F5 - This is one of my favorites. Its a landrace crossed with a modern strain (Columbian Gold x Cackleberry) Really potent, very flavorful and the terps are a mix of cherry and fox farms soil. The smell and flavor are like walking into a grow store lol. Very unique. Pic is from a previous grow and they like to turn dark purple late flower.

RedBag F5 - Really hard to describe the terps on this one but its a mix of shoe leather, diesel, cherry with some kind of terp that is hard to describe. Few different phenotypes. Couple different phenos show up and all yield well and bring a great flavor.

Here is the latest strain we are working on at 1212 Seed Company. We are calling her Squirt Sack. The mother is a South African Kwazulu Landrace that got dusted by Squirter (Squirt x Cackleberry). We just finished up a look through the F1s and picked a really awesome mother and paired her with a male similar in structure and loud terp profile with matching flavor. One of our favorite breeding methods is to pair Landraces with modern strains. Really unique things come out of the crossing and subsequent breeding down filial lines.

Squirt Sack F1 - The mother we selected going forward. Loud citrus terps with a really unique fusion of Kwazulu terps. Very hard to describe the Kwazulu terps but these melded really well together and is very flavorful. Great bud structure as well. Very Frosty!!!

Kwazulu mom - This is the mom that the above F1 came from. Epically frosty and for a sativa landrace was very fast to flower.

One of our current projects is to work with elite strains that we have some serious passion for breeding with! We are actively pollenating Jet Fuel Gelato. Subsequent explorations of F1s will be on the way to see if the cross meets our standards for 12/12 light cycles and big flavors.

We have one Jet Fuel pollenated by our beloved Dirt Stick and dusted a lower with Squirt Sack F2.

A snapshot from our last round while we evaluated Jet Fuel Gelato on her own merits. Earthy with classic Gelato terps. Yielded really well! Feel free to reach out and ask us what we are working on!

While working the Squirt Sack F2s to F3. We added a Meat Breath clone into the grow to capture some interesting genetics for F1s using the Squirt Sack F2 male we chose. Aside from using our method of breeding landraces with modern strains we are also tapping into using elite clones for strain creation and exploration. A fun note as well about meat breath. We have dusted her up with our Dirt Stick F5 male in another tent. Spidey senses be tingling about putting those two together.

Even if it is the wos kwazulu i wouldnt be too concered as it still looks realy good. Good luck with your work.

Any landrace sleepytime indica crosses in the works???
We do have some Afghani Landrace from AG in the vault. I'm a big fan of AGs gear. Its definitely something on our list to work with in the future. Most of our strains are hybrid so there are definitely some heavier hitting night time strains in the lineup. LVTKO for example makes me forget what species I am lol. We do have some NL#5 crosses in our Pheno Hunt Special offerings. NL5/Haze x Orange A.F and NL5/Haze x Uptown Brown to be exact.

Apples and Bananas - Same deal as with the Meat Breath. Got a good dusting with the Squirt Sack F2 male. F1s worthy of exploring for sure. She's got a great structure, terp profile and very hardy. We will be keeping her in the stable for a while.

The intention with using elite clones is to make new strains and introduce feminized seeds in our offering lineup. Pretty excited for it and we will do our due diligence to very low herm rates and relative uniform structures.

I'm not well versed in the classics, but I've tended to avoid hazes as I thought they were potent sativa's. For my personal stash, I mainly do sedative indicas. You're Nigerian Bubblegum is intriguing though. Lemme get the Afghan Casino fems pls. Just say when.

Feminized offerings are definitely on the way. 2nd half of this year will be when we devote time to development and testing/verifying. If you are interested when the time comes there will certainly be some testers.

Squirt Sack F2 update -

Two dominant pheno types. Both are loud on the nose, frosty, vigorous and thriving in 12/12 light cycles from seed! The F2 generation inherited more citrus influence while keeping keynote terps from the Kwazulu. Specifically a "sour" that plays off the citrus really nicely and the Kwazulu landrace terp. The landrace terp is more pronounced in the taller phenotype but is still very complex. F3 Generation will be focusing on validating if the traits are "locked in" and phenotype expression narrows. F5 seems to be the sweet spot but there have been some strains where this happens at F3.

Thanks! Over the years we ended up experimenting with the 12/12 light cycle and prefer it. It shaves time off each grow. Enough to squeeze a 4th grow cycle in a calendar year (atleast in my experience). How well a strain performs in 12/12 from seed varies per strain and per phenotype. Some phenos go to flower very fast and stay short. Those phenos we breed out however we do offer one short height strain specifically for micro grows suited for PC case setups that we named Micro Aggression:hump:. The phenos best suited to 12/12 light cycles will do just fine in conventional 18/6 ,outdoors or however long you prefer to veg them out too.

Would using landrace strains that have semi auto traits like lebanese morrocan sudanese and others not be good for this ie making em go into bloom faster with less hours? And Yeah that micro agression seems ideal for micro growers it impresses the the stuff some of em pull off in such a tiny space

Really all depends genetics of the mother, father and how well they jive together. In the case of Squirt Sack both sides of the genetics were fast to flower and that speed carried over. If I were to introduce a long flower time strain like a haze/piff it would be anyone's guess but I would wager I would see phenotypes that could have longer flower times. 100% guaranteed to find something unique and interesting bringing landrace and modern genetics together though. I know this is a bold claim but Dirt Stick for example is 100% a brand new terp profile. I have not encounter it anywhere else. The smell and flavor is 100% fox farms soil/dirt and cherry. Not as appealing a a Gelato but holy crap the stick lives up to its name lol.

For sure i agree a quality landrace parent crossed to the newer stuff is the way to go because hype x hype isnt helping anyone your just making the genepool smaller and smaller and more of the same same and then everything smokes the same and has no character nothing special or unique il be honest i aint a fan of alot of the new stuff not alot of it impresses me i had a quick look at that dirt stick sounds interesting ive found phenos earthy kinda sounding like that in some kushes or the old sage had a bit of that even in old skunk1 ive had pretty earthy phenos in that as well

I've got a Dirt Stick flowering at the moment. Its got what we call the "grow store smell" it smells just like being in a grow store with a mix of all the soils and fertilizers, plus the cherry influence of the Cherry Diesel. If I had to pin it down I would say that grow store smell/flavor is what makes it a new terp. Never encountered it anywhere before.

I call the hype stuff like eating a bowl of trix. Different flavors and colors but still just trix.
