Are you on the East Coast? It seems like that's where they are. That looks a lot like a brown. Interesting. Kinda has a cuttthroat body too. I don't know. Cool. We have those here in Oregon. I used to slay the native Cutthroat trout back in the day. I haven't been fishing for years. It used to be my main recreational activity.

I fished a little when I was kid then forgot about it for some years basically a age thing women and socializing were more interesting but when I settled down i got back into fishing with a real passion for it.
I'm right in thinking you had some salmon fishing planned for this year?

I had planned but never did go. Salmon fishing is fun and all. Catching is another thing. But I prefer bushwacking along a stream/small river for trout.

The stone fly larvae (gadger in these part) can be great sport trout like them to.

Ya a staple fly yr round is what we call nymphs.
I tie my own,basically a hook wrapped in chenille and rubber legs sticking out.
