hey, im looking on amazon for cfl lightbulbs, and im not sure if theyre suitable, how many i need etc. I already have in my house, 2 30w cfls, and 4 20w cfls.
the ones i have seen on amazon, each lightbulb is 125w, they are £30 each though. Im aware I need a 6400 for vegging, and 2700 for flowering, but how many 125w cfls would i need, in a closet grow, to grow one or two plants?
the cfls i already have, they are the regular ones u can buy from asda etc, not sure what spectrum.
also, would it be a good idea, if i did buy the cfls, to have the 6400 and 2700 on at the same time? or just the 6400 for vegging, etc?
I need help please, as I dont want to waste £60, when I could put another £30 and get a 90w ufo led light for £90
what growth could I expect from a 125w cfl?

Um... I'm in position to tell you, that when it comes to CFL, you will need them in a highly reflected and small area like a box because they quickly loose penetration compared to the likes of a HPS/MH. With that in mind they aren't even close to equivalent watt for watt.
You could do pretty good with at least 3 of those 125 watters, of 6500K each, can also use 5100K too. And when flowering comes, you could swap them out for 2700K's. Also, since the plant is now much more dense, it would help to have even more CFLs, perhaps smaller ones, vertically along the sides to reach into the smaller denser fan leaves.

What to expect from just one 125w cfl? not much. Maybe a half ounce dry, highly dependent on strain, nutrition, environment: stress levels, temp, airflow etc.
Yes you can put the 6500K's to use during flowering (at the top), and exchange the 2700K's at the side (so they are closer to the majority of bud sites, with a indica strain in mind, depends on how your plant grows again)

thankyou, the only issue i had with cfl before is that they drained the electricity somehow, still undecided whether to go with the cfl or 120w led idea

hi m8 im on my 1st grow useing only 1 x 125cfl lamp in an area of 2ftx3ft.my plants are in the 2nd week of flower and the 4 of them are nearly 4ft tall with plenty of buds.im no expert but im very pleased with the results from my cfl.i only paid £15 each for my blue and red in the uk and made my own reflector.the pro,s seem to sniff at these bulbs but i feel ive had value for money.il let you know how they turn out.

As long as you keep the lights close, to the plant (within 2 inches) and keep the climate optimum. You'll do great if you put both 125W CFL's in at the same time. It will still 100% benefit the plant.

I would go with the 200 watter's there about 85 bucks.. get duel spectrum,, That's not 200 watt equivalent that's a true 200 watt,, They work great, my plants are up 5-5 with these lights, nodes are tight, There huge lights tho 15 long 8 inches wide... here is what they look like.. and here is one of my plants grown with these lights... also I don't stunt my plants with nuts, this is a pure soil grow with these lights and great soil you will get a inch a day or more of growth...
