Alright peps here it is...my brother in California has decided its time for the big BOMBS grow of 150 plants....Now i've grown quite a few in my day but when i close my eyes its hard to see that many plants. My bro has called on me to be his overseer of this project. So i'm making the trip out in a week and need to start putting down some figures...we were thinking 7 600 watt lights would be suffice with 450 gallons of Fox farm ocean forest. This is just a guestamet....but any input on the situation would be appreciated.

-Peace- from a mile high!

your gonna need way more lights then that, like double cuz me for a 600w I only put max 9 plants. The
electric bill is gonna cost you a lot and your definetly gonna need fans and cooltubes. Its gonna be expensive.
but good luck.

True true but combining 600 will double light power in spots and if one 600 should cover atleast a 4x4 12 square feet then i think we should be covered the pots are verytall and not wide at all about 8inch wide but hold 4 and a half gallons so the should sit nice up against eachother. but my biggest concern isnt so much the money as it is keeping a constant watering on these guys now my brother does the stock market so he has a lot of at home time and can take the time to water them all but i dont think he has any idea what its gonna be like to water 150 plants almost everyotherday during flowering so im trying to come up with a simple solution. Maybe a few pumps and a few drums of water.

I would say that a 600W covers a 2.75-3 ft x 2.75-3 ft square with good coverage. A 1000W covers a 4x4 area. Hope this helps :joint:

sounds good but...ive got five different sources that read 400 watt is 3x3 600 4x4 1000 5x5 as im coming up with it at 8 inch i could fit 36 under one light and really only need five but like i said itll probably be a work in progress...What i really want to know is what are some secrets to making a big grow easier?

600 will cover 4x4 area his post was wrong above you have it right. Now if you grew in 4x8 tents you cound do like 4 tents with 2 600 watt lights per tent everything would be automatic and odoer control much easier. If your dead set on doing soil which will be the hardest way to grow you need to set up large res with timed pumps and drip lines so the watering is automated as once 150 plants fill in you will not be walking by to water unless your using a larger ware house type setup then your fine.

I have quite a few different res. that say that a 1000w will cover a 10 x 10 area. What I am telling you is what will give you good canopy penetration so that the buds on the bottom of the plant get the best light they can. You can hang stuff vertical that seems to be the absolut best use of your light, but 150 plants in pots I am not sure how to pull that off I am not a vertical farmer but think the poss for the future is def there for me. Two sides of the bulb instead of one, the best reflector is going to only put at most 10-11 perc back down :hump: hope this helps:joint:

Best way to disperse the light is verticle hanging bulbs in panabolic reflectors if in an open room but in a tent 2 600 watters cover nicely. You can sog in there with about 305-45 plants per table and try to go for 3-4 lbs dry per tent so yield in 4 tents 12-16 lbs at lets say around $4000 and lb so thats $48000 - $68000 a grow so would make the cost back fast. Electric will be high so you will need alternative source but if in cali and have the money a nice solar tie in system will offset the cost and maybe stop the red flags

I am not dis with Filthy, haven't used tents so I can't go there. With the size pots you have and the bulbs and stuff you might want to check the Northern Farmer Stadium Grow. Hope this helps :joint:

i have a lot of expirience in farming and ag. and i would recommend setting up a large rez. with an r.o machine for optimal use and set up a dripp system that way you wont need to use up space for paths to water =). you need only one electrical pump and a main like like which you connect you hoses to then after laying your hose connecting your drip line and drip nozzels into the pot. this makes everything easy well in my mind at least. you can feed and water. too measure the amount of water or food you give to each plant just put a couple of dip nozzels in a few jar in different areas and use the average of the water in each jar they all might not bee the same depending on you h/p of the pump and size of the main line and reduced hose size. its all in figuring it out for your use.all you need to do to automize this system is put the pump on a timer and huw-huw-huw as the french say, your set. but theres a million and a half ways to do things and this is my way because it my comfort zone. just find yours and it will make things fun. hope it helps :weed:

ps. your local hydro or irrigation store will have a computer program that will give you the perfect pipe sizes, pump sizes, and layout design. let the machine and experience work for you

I am knew to this site, but i really like it so far. Great people, and great advice. I have a ?, Have you any idea of what kind of area your going to have to work with. And what about restrictions? Is like the other guy was talking about power with the solar panels. Which i think is a great idea, thought about it myself here at the house. Then putting my tent directly under the panels, so maybe it would throw IR off from the sky. Anyway back to your setup. I know your just over whelped with the 150 plants. But could you provide just a lil more info. Is smell going to be a problem? I think for something this big, if you are comfortable with a ebb & flow type system. Anything that is going to min your work to only checking measurements and making adjustments. With multiple reservoirs would be lil more more come time to flush, but would help keep closer eye on plants. That way if something goes wrong you wont loss entire crop. As far as lights, i would agree with the tents. A lot smaller environment to control also. Heat and power would be my main concern for something on this scale. The rest is just setting down and picking a layout that you and your bro are cool with maintaining. Alright thanx for my 2 cents. Hope this helped.
