If by "regular (household) socket", you mean a plastic fixture - than definetly not! An HPS just runs too hot for a plastic socket!is it safe to put a 150 watt , medium base HPS bulb in a regular(household) socket rated at 220v/660 watt ?
All I was finding at the hardware store where I found the hps bulb on clearance as far as medium base sockets went was ceramic ones, but they were 250v/660w ones.hps and halogen have different ignition processes. Are you asking if you can hook up a stardard household fixture into an hps ballast?
