hey man, i'll go check your thread at grasscity. i topped sour d once, i also did some lst with strings, nothing major. mostly to force the two top colas to be a similar height for ease of lighting. the other thing is that i used one t5 tube and 2 cfls for each plant, so the side lights probably helped some of the side branches develop more. i don't know for sure.

still debating when to harvest sour d... another travel plan is complicating things, so i might chop on halloween or very soon after.

in the mean time, purple d is all jarred up i'll post some pics when i get a chance. smelling nicer and nicer each time i open the jar. plus, the smoke & high is getting better, big time. i got a little rh meter, but i'm not sure it's calibrated correctly. i'm going by "feel". the stems are snapping now (when i bend a bud in half), which i guess means it's ready for over-night jarring. i'm kinda paranoid though... last night i got out of bed freaking out that i was gonna get mold and opened the jar half way lol... i think it'll be fine as long as i keep an eye on it.

If its only 5 days it should be perfect, just make sure its in a cool dark spot with decent ventillation and it should dry pretty slow.. I would rather have the bud be a little dry then have mold on it and waste some if not all of it, you know..

I think the molasses idea is perfect, 1tablespoon per gallon seems to do the trick for my girls!! Just make sure you use all of what you mix because it will go bad within a day or two and smell horrid..

hey guys, some updates on purple d...

when she was hang drying (day 1)



after 4 days of hang drying:


dry weight = about 12 grams.

all jarred up:


the weight is almost stabilized by now... still going down about .2 grams a day, but that's mostly from smoking it . it's tasting better and feeling stronger every extra day i wait.


the dried sugar leaves (2.5 g). i made a half-stick of butter with them (also one with the fan leaves, just to see what would happen).


haven't eaten yet, but will soon

Let us know how that butter works out for you, thats one thing I haven't messed with yet. I wan't to try hash first but I would also like to try butter eventually!

for all the sour d fans out there, here's how she's looking this morning. i've been flushing for 2+ weeks, and still trying to figure out when to harvest. she looks like she could use another week, but travel plans etc might force me to chop a little early, like in 3 or 4 days from now.

by the way, purple d is smelling skunkier and skunkier by the day, and the high is getting nicer and nicer . i leave the buds in the jar most of the day now, just burping once or twice a day. dry weight seems stable now at 11.6 grams, close to half an ounce, not bad!

thanks a, she does look pretty awesome. I think she'll be a bigger yielded than purple d, I'm guessing between 15 and 20 grams dry (that would be frigging sweet)

here's a shot of a couple of purple's buds, been curing for 5 days. the smoke is already great, but i'm sure i'll keep curing for another couple months, smokin as i go...

ok, the decision is made. lights go off tonight for sour d. i will chop her 36 hours later, the morning of nov 3rd, hopefully while celebrating a prop 19 victory. wish me luck!

sour d at day 66 from 12/12, standing 21 inches tall. you can tell the 2+ week flush really made her consume all her fan leaves.

you know it, bro. those buds will be ready to test tomorrow i think. meanwhile, the rest of sour d's branches are hanging and drying nicely. can't wait to try a smoke
